Why buy so many Nikons if you've always been happier with Canon? Just curious.

Because I'm a gear slut and Nikon does make some great bodies/lenses. I went from the all the d's to the 40D then to the d100, followed by the 5D, the d700 and back to the 5dMk2 for the past three years.

Nikon is a great camera - at the end of the day, I just like Canons better and the lenses/bodies are a little more affordable. After the last go around, I stopped jumping.

Thats alot of jumping around! this is like Husqvarna vs. Stihl you can go back and forth all you want, but it comes down to preference!

I am still using the 5D "classic", as it does what I need it to do. I've owned lots of lenses, at one point I think I was up to 17. I've paired them down to my essential lenses -- 2 Canons, a 17-40L and 80-200L (the magic drainpipe), an OM Zuiko 50mm f/1.4 and a Tamron adaptall-2 90mmf/2.5 macro. The best thing about Canon bodies is that you can adapt old lenses to work on them, albeit manual focus. Some of the best lenses I've owned were made in the 70's and 80's including my Olympus and Tamron.

I have always been a Canon shooter, Had 3 P&S, then stepped up to the DSLR.

...ultimately it just comes down to preference and what you're comfortable with. I love my Canon 5DmkII.

I shoot with a D90 and these two lenses:

Nikon 35/1.8
Tamron 17-50/2.8 (not the VC since it's not as sharp)

I'm perfectly happy with this combo because I feel like it's the best bang for the buck, not too heavy and relatively a small package. I mostly just use it when I am on vacation. I recently got trial versions of Photoshop 5, Lightroom 3 and Silver Effex 2 (great program to convert images to B&W). Using the above software here's a photo I whipped up in about 10 minutes.

I used the that Nikon 35mm f1.8 on my old D80 and I thought it was the most amazing DX lens that they made. The fact that it's one of their cheapest lenses makes it even better.

You on a Mac? If so, send me a PM with your address and I'll send ya the whole CS5 suite. :thumb3:

I just purchased that same 35mm lens too and I completely agree!

Hepar,

Would you be able to hook me up with cs5?! Use been trying to get it for a long time - I also have a Mac.

Thanks!

My Sony compact finally died after 4 years, and I decided to make a move into the DSLR territory. :hatsoff:

So I bought Nikon D5100 with 18-55mm and 55-300mm lenses. LOVE IT!!! Both my boys play soccer and I love being able to capture great shots across the field with a longer lens. :bigok:

In the future is the Nikon COOLPIX P7100 for underwater pictures that will replace my Olympus.
