Used to be a huge Nikon fan, shot with a D200 for 3 years. Sold the camera and ended up going with Canon for my next choice... I like it but wish I got a more high end model.

I shoot with a Sony A100. I got it as a discontinued model on ebay. I thought Sony supplied all the other manufacturers with their digital arrays? I've been very pleased with this camera.

Does nobody know who pentax is? Amazing Digital slr's for a great price. I haven't bought one yet because my cheap kodak still works and I can borrow my brothers whenever I'd like to. But really guys look into PENTAX! A company that doesn't focus on advertisement because they believe the product should sell itself

I have a k20d.
Got it in early 2009 for our summer Hawaii trip.
I really like that the camera has weather seals for dust, dirt, moisture, water for not much money - especially back then.
I still have it and have to force myself to use it.
I have been using either my droid x or iPhone for pics.
But I really like taking pics w the Pentax but I don't like the bulk... Of any DSLR.

I have a Nikon D3000. As it's my first "real" camera, I found it very easy to understand and use out of the box; I've been very pleased.

My friend has one and I think it's one of the best compact point and shoots on the market. Can't beat the quality for the size and weight of it.

Pics look good, I loved my HTC EVO's 8mp camera when I first got it. I actually didn't touch my old point and shoot again from the time I got it. The problem was lack of zoom and the speed for it to focus and shoot. Not sure how the iphone ranks in those categories, but I know walking through a busy car show (SEMA is a great example) the phone/tablet camera users drive me nuts. takes them 20 times longer to set up their shot because they don't have the ability to zoom in/out etc.
I personally bought a Sony A55 about a year ago and have been pretty damn happy with it. Maybe when my abilities get better I'll find something that it doesn't do as well as a more expensive camera, but right now its far more capable than I am.

I personally use a D90 with three different lenses. The iphone is good however it does have limitations. In my opinion, the iphone is ONLY good for macro, close up shots (up to 15 feet or so) as you can see in my photos. I would not use the iphone for landscape or moving action shots.

Here's a link to a pretty cool piece in our local paper the Seattle Times. In their annual high school prep athletes of the year, the photographer put down her SLR and took the photos with her iPhone instead. The results are pretty cool! One thing I think it shows you is how key the understanding of good lighting is when taking photographs.

The Canon vs Nikon debate is a tough one. The two are so closely matched there really isn't a true winner.
The latest models from Nikon have less noise on high ISO settings than Canon, but I'm sure the next wave of Canons will improve on that.
I personally think the controls and menus are better on the Nikons but again that all comes down to personal preference. One isn't really better than the other.
Canon seems to shoot a sharper image than Nikon does, but it's so close again that I can just compensate for that in post.
Canon seems to have more selection in lenses and those lenses seem to cost a bit less. That is the one advantage to Canon that has been making me consider the switch when I make the jump to full frame equipment. I'll have to rebuy most of my lenses going to Nikon full frame, so if I switch to Canon it will cost me less in total.
But, for the poll I voted Nikon. It's what I shoot and for the most part I love it.
