I was replacing my filter today and got sprayed in the face/eyes. I am trying to figure out what caused it to happen.
I removed the gas cap and pulled the fuses for EFI then tried to start it a few times. It did not start. I went ahead and lightly loosened both ends of the filter and a slow flow of fuel came out. Once that stopped I disconnected both ends and loosened the bracket to pull the filter out. No fuel was coming out of either line. I was applying antisieze to the fuel line under the nut to prevent any seizing and all of a sudden the hose coming from the engine shot out fuel like a spray gun. It just happened to spray under my safety glasses and into my eyes. That sucked.
Then it went from sunny to pouring while I was flushing my eyes and my tools got wet. Doh!
But anyways I went back under there and attached both ends without incident.
My question is why did fuel sudden spit out of the hose after it was already drained for a few minutes and how would it be able to spray out instead of trickling out like it did when I first unhooked it?
Just trying to prevent this from happening again later.
