What color interior dash lights?

I've got several lights out in my dash, and was thinking that if I'm going to pull it apart and replace them anyway, I ought to consider leveraging one of these threads and redoing the interior lighting.

My question is what color is actually usable and looks good? My head unit is color programmable, so I can pretty much match anything.

I'd welcome both opinions and experience, ad any pics you have would be great!

Mostly clean, white with a bit of ice blue to shake things up with some contrast :

Yeah, I'm leaning towards white gauge/HVAC and accent it with another color in the ignition ring and ashtray.

Interesting to see how many chose to keep the stock green.

i like the stock green. Wouldnt have it any other way. But then again I never really clean my 4runner and the dash is covered in dirt.

I replaced mine with factory color lights- I had to replace the drive bulb to get it through inspection, I also did the ac/heater unit lights aswell- I used the stock lights because at the time I was unaware I could change them up- I would go with white if I had to do it again.

blue LED

Getting ready to do all blue LEDs in mine.Not sure if I will do the D,R,N,L lights may just keep stock.Anybody had problems with DMV on this?

are you talking about the one in the shifter or the ones in the dash? I have a black LED light in my shifter and it doesn't really light it up that well but it looks cool. You shouldn't have any problems with the DMV as long as there are lights and not obnoxious, stobe lights you should be fine.

that one IMO is the easiest to get to, im not sure if its the same for the 97 but you should only have to pull your trim out and that piece with the buttons is all one piece and basically you can get to the lights from behind. you may have to take it apart to get easier access. but if they are all the same type of bulb its a neo wedge base bulb.

back window as in rear brake light? I'll double check on the ect lights- the ac unit is easy..
pull your ash tray out- theres two screws holding the bracket in(easiest to remove with a right angle screw driver) then the plastic surrounding everything will come right off- just pull it- your vents up top of that part have some wires running under them- unplug that and it will come right off. the face plate to the ac unit will also pop right off- just pull it towards you. that will expose 4 screws holding the unit inplace. unplug the unit, take to a work bench or an easy spot to work on it- essentially all it is, is a box and a motherboard lol. its got 4 lights in it- two on each side. THEY ARE NOT ALL THE SAME. the unit has a tab in the center push down on it and pull the face off- but be gentle as theres a tape connecting the two that you do not want to break. once you get it apart the lights will be on the back side of the board. you can take the lights out with a flat screw driver. As I said theres 4 of em, however they are not the same watt. they come in packs of two so you can replace them all at once- the lights are around 6 bucks a pop though. If you need part numbers just let me know.
