What could I sell my truck for?

So the time has come where I am sadly realizing that I need something easier on gas and easier to DD every day. I was wondering what I could sell my truck for, not dead set on selling it-just putting out feelers

I have never sold a vehicle before and I am not quite sure what to price my truck at.

Here are the basics:

• 
  
  Good Stuff
• 1996 4Runner Limited with 246k miles on body and chassis
• New rebuilt 3.4L with 3k miles from LKQ engines
• Rebuilt trans with HD torque converter with 3k miles
• SS 1.2 suspension setup with 5100's (on truck for less than a year)
• Elocker and 4.30 gears
• 285/75/16 Duratracs with less than 10k miles on them
• Little mods like deckplate
• TTM front tube bumper
• HD-SKO rock sliders
• Yakima roof rack
• Mstudt sway bar endlinks
• Lotus LCM skids
• All regular maintenance done
• Passes smog
• Almost ZERO rust and spent entire life in California
• Never been in an accident
  
  Bad stuff
• Front seats are slightly torn but all electronics work
• Rear bumper has dents from offroading
• Rear swaybar mount broke-currently not running a rear sway bar
• Stock skid plates
• Catallitic Converter rattles when at a stop

what do yall think I could get for the truck? The market is California and I am in no rush to sell. See my build thread (link in signature) for pictures and extra information.

Most people won't even notice the rear sway so I wouldn't worry about that. If you have paperwork on the engine and tranny maybe $6-$7k? Id not maybe $5k? It's hard to say because of the person doesn't off road they'll see no value whereas if they do then they'll pay more. Why sell? Why not keep it for just off roading? Living in Austin, tx to keep my 1999 fully insured with my DD changed my insurance like $30 a month. Just get a 2005-2008 Corolla for $5k and use that as s DD.

Pics would help but the vehicle is worth as much as the buyer wants it. Some love the color, some love a hoodscoop, some love an e-locker, some love the bumper whether fat lip or not, some love sunroofs, some love leather, some love 99 tall springs, some love tow packages, some love good tires, some love fancy wheels, some love.........

All in all, yours sounds like it has some nice parts on it. Sadly that doesn't always come back as a return but sometimes it does. If you want to list it, do it! Don't let it go for less than what its worth TO YOU

I have all the paperwork on the engine and tranny as well as most of service records since it's purchase by the first owner (my uncle), also I should not that the truck has almost zero rust

You could sell it for exactly what a buyer is willing to pay. If you don't need the cash and want a few laughs list it. You can hang on to it until you find the right buyer.

You are definitely right and I think I would wait for the right buyer and the right price, right now I don't think I could settle for less than 6k. I know you don't get that much back on parts and I'm not expecting to have a return on the truck but I do have $6500 in that engine and tranny alone (installed by a professional shop who specializes in major engine and transmission work).

Heck after looking a Corolla is like $3-$4k. Is that reasonable? After research a while back they've used the same engine since like 2003 I think and owners claim to get 300-350k without any major work. Hard to beat buddy

Thing is that I do need a daily with 4WD or AWD at least (I like to go to the snow). Also I wouldn't keep the truck just for offroading. Although it is great (did the Rubicon recently), it just isnt the best for the rock crawling that I like to do as I am trying to get into more hardcore stuff and I just bought a trail-rig (1982 Pickup on 36" Swampers)

Yeah... My 97 takes me up stuff that is borderline crazy for an IFS rig but yeah....

Yea, thing is KBB doesn't take into account a new engine and rebuilt trans, as well as all of the suspension and armor and whatnot. Local 4runners unmodified seem to be going for around 4k with around 200k miles

Sounds like she might be a keeper.

Let me tell you where the equation messes up for you...

Engine and rebuilt tranny are great but the mileage is really high for a buyer. Not so high if you keep her

yea, high mileage is really only on the chassis, cab, a-arms, and rear axle; everything else has been replaced at some point or another

LMAO. I just picked up a 97 with 238,000 on it. Nothings been rebuilt and it purrs like a kitten. But I also have an 88 Toyo Van with 325,000 miles on it. It also has never had any major motor or tranny work done and it too purrs like a kitten. It's for sale BTW. lol

Yea, I think that is the kind-of buyer I would have to wait for, which I am not opposed to as I would like the truck to go to the best home possible. If I do choose to sell, I will definitely be posting it for sale on here first
