What could I sell my truck for?

Yea, I think that is the kind-of buyer I would have to wait for, which I am not opposed to as I would like the truck to go to the best home possible. If I do choose to sell, I will definitely be posting it for sale on here first

Go ahead and post it here. Some sit for months on here. See what offers you get.

Pics would help but the vehicle is worth as much as the buyer wants it. Some love the color, some love a hoodscoop, some love an e-locker, some love the bumper whether fat lip or not, some love sunroofs, some love leather, some love 99 tall springs, some love tow packages, some love good tires, some love fancy wheels, some love.........

All in all, yours sounds like it has some nice parts on it. Sadly that doesn't always come back as a return but sometimes it does. If you want to list it, do it! Don't let it go for less than what its worth TO YOU

I agree with all you said except the last part. Sentimental value adds nothing ever. Maybe you meant sell it for what you'd pay for it if someone else were selling a similar vehicle? Idk but
I see aftermarket off road parts as a 50% return. You put $3k in it you may see $1,500 back

After all this back and forth chat, what are some honest numbers y'all would see someone paying for the truck? Let's assume they like/would like to get into off-roading (I doubt anyone who isn't would buy it)

Just to give you an idea I payed $3200 for my 97. It's stock and has great service records. I think I got a pretty good deal on it. So with the right buyer and the work you have into it I could see that double. A guy was trying to sell a lifted 98 with no locker and 198,000 here for $7200. That truck sat for a long time.

I don't think you would get enough money to make it worth selling. If I was you and I wanted something a little easier on the DD wallet, I would swap out the 285s for some 267/75/16s and Charlie Mike down the road. Otherwise, you are looking at throwing away a lot of time, money, and offroad capability, for a few extra bucks in monthly operating costs. And assuming you would be buying a used DD, there could be just as many unknown issues with a small economical car. The devil you know is always better than the devil you don't.

Why would you put all of that money into her & then sell it? You'll be taking a loss. You have a new trail rig, put the T4R back closer to stock & DD her. She's got a new engine & trans damnit!

Honestly if you want the most money I would consider putting it back to stock and selling all the aftermarket parts separately. A huge amount of buyers are looking for stock 4Runners and by yours being modified makes a huge amount of those buyers not consider it. Just to give you an idea I sold a 99 limited with 200k that was stock for $6500 and it sold within 24 hours.

Yea, thing is KBB doesn't take into account a new engine and rebuilt trans, as well as all of the suspension and armor and whatnot. Local 4runners unmodified seem to be going for around 4k with around 200k miles

You rarely ever get much value for modifications. In many cases they hurt the resale value. People don't like buying a rig that's had a bunch of work done to it because they don't know if it was done right or not. The engine swap alone would be enough to scare me away.

You'd need to find a buyer who's looking for a 4Runner that's built very close to the way yours is for it to be worth any more to them.

Yes this is very true, although for the engine swap I do have all of the documentation from the shop that did it and the warranty papers. But as for all of the modifications, I guess I would just have to wait for the right person as you said.

Agreed, it's happened to me a few times, I've also had a great return on a few, namely my full size Bronco. I got 2k over what I paid for it including lift, tires and rear end rebuild.

I have lost more on offroad investments over time though to be honest

Also the sentimental value is nothing more than your own personal "dealer tag on price"

You don't have to accept it. It depends on what direction you want to go.

Of course. I wasn't trying to badger you as I agree with basically all you said
