CL find months back, bought a treasure trove of 1980's Yota parts for cheap. It was branded Toyota but no idea what it came off of. I just siliconed it in the spare tire access hole and wired it up. Yes, stock bumper from PO, just repainted, would like to find a straight chrome one myself but gave up looking.

need help/ advice

I have an 87 4runner with a very solid body. Fixed and replaced a lot over the years. Now I need an engine. Found a place that I can get the 22re turbo, or whatever it's called. I currently have just the regular 22re. I've gotten conflicting answers. Can anyone tell me, how big of an issue is putting the turbo in. Just the computer or how much more?

I changed the fuel filter on my first 4runner. 1995 4x4 auto. I don't thinks its ever been changed. Had to use a breaker bar to get the damn lines undone. What came out of the filter was char coal. On to see about the popping 3.0

Cooling system

I bought a 94 4Runner a couple months ago for my son to learn on and eventually drive. Part of my plan is also to get him working on vehicles a bit (he's 15).

So we've been fixing some of the more obvious problems with this vehicle and getting to know it. I noticed some odd shifting behavior and reading indicated that it won't shift into 4th until it's up to temp. We noticed it's been slow to get to temp and just recently drove it far enough to see that ours is losing temperature on long, straight, level areas and then downshifts into third. So I suspected thermostat.

We dug into that yesterday and discovered that the cooling system was filled with water. I should have checked this sooner. Turns out it had no thermostat in it. So we flushed it out with tap water, replaced the thermostat with a 180 degree unit, replaced upper and lower hoses, cleaned and sealed the upper opening, and filled it with fresh 50/50 mix. That made a huge difference. It shifts nice and smooth, oil pressure isn't high at temp now, and power is improved. Next weekend we're planning to do the valve covers.

Got my '87 running and driving! Painted the valve cover and gave it some goodies from trail gear. Silicone hoses and NGK plug wires.

well I started project Firecracker 2.0, kinda woundering if perhaps I would have been better off buying a 4runner for $500 off CL instead, but the owner of that one said it had rod knock, so I guess I still would be in the situation of pulling a motor....oh well perhaps I am just crazy?? will post pics soon...

Bought another 4runner for parts. A 1990 with chewed engine wiring and lines. The block itself has 13k on it though. Its going into my 95.

I didn't get a swing out, but the company does offer one that can be added at a later date.

Its structural rigidity is mostly from a square crossmember, to which the hitch, recovery points, and frame plate mounts are tied into. The wings have a support which bolts to the frame.

Looks like maybe manual valve lever? Think I may have found a resource to at least call and ask.
