What did you pay for your 05 Sport

Hello All,

I am new at this board. I have been reading it for a while and just joined the otherday. I have been contenplating getting a 4Runner. I am getting pretty serious about it and in 2 weeks when i get back to the US im going to start getting quotes.

I have to admit this is my first time buying a vehicle and want to get a good deal.

Im looking to see what you paid for your 2005 Sport either V8 or V6 and what options it has.

I have gotten two internet quotes but the vehicles have alot more options than i wanted but i guess i will have to settle with some of the options since im getting an 05.

Also i looked at the incentives and there are currently no incentives. I hope they start some up soon.

Also do you think i can get an even better deal if i were to purchase two 4Runners. I am thinking of waiting a few more weeks b/c my father is going to get one as well.

Thanks

Wayne

I would think that the 05s should be selling for invoice or lower, especially the V8s. The dealer by me has no 06s on the lot, but they are loaded with 05s. I've never seen so many 4Runners on their lot.

Thanks for the response. I am really looking forward to getting one. I currently have a 96 Tacoma Extracab 4x4 with 200K miles. Hopefully i can get some good numbers here. I also ordered a package off of the fightingchance.com website.

Thanks again for the reply.

What part of Louisiana do you live in? I live in Baton Rouge and got my 05 Sport V6 2wd at All Star Toyota (previously Coleman's). I basically printed out the Edmunds pricing report with the options I wanted, took it to the dealer, circled what I was willing to pay (invoice of course). They argued that they couldn't go that low and started talking about various fees they had to pay. There was a $1000 rebate at that time and I got the vehicle for about $300-500 over invoice.

I'd definitely recommend All Star if you are in the Baton Rouge area. They didn't really haggle with me at all, not very much back and forth garbage that other places were trying to pull with me. They also gave me the most for my trade.

Good luck!

I just picked my '05 sport V8 4wd, leather, Sunroof for $31000 out the door. That includes the $2500 rebate, which is now $3500, so I should have waited...but I'm still happy with my purchase.
By the way, i'm in Atlanta.

Thanks These are the first actual prices i have seen posted. Thanks for the help.

Got mine 25th of June, 2005 ....

05 4runner Sport v8
Titanium Metallic
10 speaker / 6 disc JBL system
(rear audio controls included)
Floor and cargo mats
Rear Spoiler
Free lifetime oil changes :)

$27,500 out the door ....

$27.5K out the door? I'm certainly not doubting you, but how in the world did you get that? That's $2k under the invoice price without tax. Did you have a trade in?

I can show you the paperwork if you don't believe me :-)

No trade in. This price was after the $1500 rebate on the v8's they were offering in June. If my calculations are correct, the dealer made $200 or so off of me that day (which is probably the most a dealer had ever made off of me). The dealer didn't just hand me this price ... I had to argue .... walk out three times ... explain to him that I know how this works just as well as he does. It was a 6 hour process. Gave me something to do on a Saturday.

Congrats then...I'm impressed. I guess I could have haggled a little more, but I got them to throw in a lot of extras (which i'm sure cost them nothing), so I think I did okay. Certainly better than what some other dealers were asking. I went to two other dealers on the second to the last day of the month and they wouldn't budge on their price of almost $3k over what I spent. I told them they were nuts. I couldn't believe they wouldn't even deal on a car that is obviously not in high demand right now...and that's even if I could get a salesman who would even give me the time of day. I guess they're too busy selling Priuses (sp).

Holy Cow i hope i can get a price like that. How did you approach them? Did you bring any other quotes or invoices? I assume that is with a rebate before TT&L.

Thanks for the Post.

I actually bought the car in Daytona Beach, FL .... but I live in Tallahassee, FL right now. I did the majority of my hagling over the phone. Spent about a week crunching numbers on a speadsheet ... digging up data to find out what exactly the dealer paid for everything. You have to walk in knowing what you are talking about. It helps a lot when you can tell your salesperson exactly what the dealership paid for the vehicle .... and then tell him what you are going to pay for it. Best time is the end of the month because this is when they are trying to meet their sales quota. Rainy days are best because they generally sell less cars on those days (so ... they are more willing to make a sale). Don't be afraid to walk out ... don't be afraid to argue. You are the one that is dropping the large amount of cash to purchase a vehicle --- you hold ALL of the power. They have no leverage with which to push you around because you can easily tell them to f' off and just walk out. There are tons of dealerships out there .... just gotta find one willing to work with you. This is why I went 4 hours away to buy my vehicle. Also --- it helps to know who the direct competition is for your dealership. They really hate it when you tell them you are walking out and driving directly over to the competitor to purchase a vehicle.

Does Anyone know what if anything the dealer can take off of a car. As i stated above i sent some info to two dealers and they both quoted me an 05 with alot more options than that i wanted.

Thanks

With a $3500 rebate (on V8) you should be able to get it for $2500 below invoice. That's a $1000 deal for the Stealer, I would not pay more then that. I would make a starting offer of $3000 below invoice. DO NOT negotiate with the MSRP, only work with the invoice. If you negotiate off the invoice you don't have worry about any options the vehicle may have.

Cool thanks for the info. Like i said this will be my first car purchase and i want to get the best deal (doenst everyone) Today i also got some info from fightingchance.com i figured it couldnt hurt and it is only a few dollars. I have found some invoice prices on the normal websites but have no idea how to find out what the dealer paid so fightingchance is as close as i could get.

The dealer by my house (internet sales guy) keeps e-mailing me asking when i can come in to see how great the 4-runner is.

If you work off the invoice they will show you it to you BEFORE signing the final paperwork (when picking up the vehicle). If they have the vehicle, they will have the invoice.

I'm trying to seal a deal right now for a 05 Sport, V6, sunroof, JBL 6 CD changer, VIP alarm, DDecker, rear spoiler, compass, for $28,322 + 299. for doc fee's. What do you guys think?

Of course we're still about 2k apart on my trade, but I'm sure we'll work something out. Any advice on how to approach the negotiations on the 2k?

This has been a hard decision for me, and I've been trying to buy a Runner for the last year. The V6/V8 debate runs through my head daily! I was able to test drive the V6 yesterday for an extended period of time up I-70 towards Vail Pass, the V6 was louder than the V8, but didn't suffer at all in altitude. I was very surprised and happy. I also waited for the 06 to come out.

You have figure in that an 05 will be a year old as soon as you take delivery. You should get $1000 just for that, now figure in the rebate. You looking at $2500 to $3500 off the V6 and $3500 to $4500 off the V8. That's off the INVOIVE!

I would be happy to see this 3500 - 4500 off on the V8's I have yet to see that posted anywhere. Every Dealers site i look at has the 4X2 V8 at a rebate of $2000 and it says valid through 10/31/05.
