What does 4lo center diff lock feel like?

How does engaging 4lo and then locking the center diff drive like? I'm asking because I just tried mine in some snow and just idling forward and then with a little gas it was like a chug-chug-chug motion. I don't think it's broken...but is this how it actually works??

We're you letting on and off the gas? The vehicle will inherently jerk because of the gear reduction producing much more torque than 4H

It'll feel like a someone shov'd a red hawt pok'r up yer kiester, I reckon'! be walkin' funneh fer a week!

Joking aside, you'll notice a reduction in acceleration (due to lower gearing), a more jerky/torquey feeling when using the throttle (again due to gearing). You'll also notice the vehicle making probably a little more gear noise and being slower. It might stiffen up the steering slightly, its not as noticable as domestic vehicles. But you'll feel like you're crawling along more than you do in 4Hi.

That actually helps me! ^^^
But what I was trying to explain was that at some moments I did not have any feet on the pedals, and the car started moving forward (like usual as if your in traffic) but it was doing the same chugging thing. Honestly the best way i can describe it is if your riding a bike with a bent wheel, how it kept you from moving ! If that helps :jump:

Maybe had something to do with some snow and ice in the wheel well or on the wheel.

The transitions from throttle, gear, and speed changes can be abrupt and somewhat jerky but starting from a stop and letting off the brake, the truck should just idle forward slowly and smoothly. Make sure the HVAC is off to eliminate that variable.

If you are in slush locking the diff in 4lo should be a "needed" option in other words if you don't need it don't use it. (lecture button to OFF)

It will naturally feel "jerky" anytime in 4lo. If you are in 4hi and lock the diff you should be able to track better with the improved steering ability. If not put your shifter into 2nd gear and see if that helps. Tires do play a major factor as well. If you on snow which covers ice you are going to potentially get more jerks per meter than if no ice is there.

Spiggie, when you do the driveway test, drive straight. All bets are off if you start turning.
