...the location of the oil filter on the V6?!

I never think much of it until I change the oil in my wife's car and then with the 4Runner back-to-back.

I'm sure there's a smart reason for having it up there, like not getting damaged while off-road, etc, but it is sure a ***** and a half to change it and then clean all the drainage off the various suspension parts and cable wraps under it.

Sorry, just wanted to crab about it.

Wait till you change the rear shocks, the same ass-hole designed that layout too.
 
I had to cut the rear shocks off, then when I had a mechanic replace them again last month HE had to cut them off. And yeah, I hate the filter placement too. I actually ripped the ABS wires apart trying to pull the filter out last year.
 
I've always found the filter is easier to get at through the wheel well than from underneath. As soon as you get the filter loose you can flip it upside down w/ minimal spilling and then pull it through the wheel well.

Rear shocks are a *****.
