What Happened to My TPMS?

Long story short,

I had a bunch of work to do to my car before driving across country. I had a steady light on with my TPMS the past few days.

I added air to all my tires and now lights blinking. WTF. How do I fix this?

The rims are off a FJ cruiser. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Did you take your sensors off your old wheels ? Check spare ? There is a gasket kit to use when changing them , must use sensors of old wheels to match up ecu !!

No. The fj rims had sensors in them and it seemed to work. How do you reprogram them?

You need the number codes on the sensors ( valve stems ), dealer uses these numbers to program them into the main tpms computor. Yes, all 5 of them,yes your light will come on and go off, the computor is in search of the sensors. When it decides they can't find them, you have what your seeing on your dash.

Any chance have old wheels still ? If so simple switch em out cheaper than re-programming ! I have no idea how much stealerships charge ?

I was at a BIG O a couple of weeks ago, and another person came in, not sure if prior client, but the manager was using a hand held monitor around his tpms stems and his horn would honk. I assume it told him that it picked up the code.

You might go by tire shop and see if this is what he was doing on reseting the codes. It was a chevy though. Just a thought.

That sounds like a GM vehicle if the horn was honking.
