What is the correct Tire Size?

My 1994 4runner has 31X10's but the sticker on the door post says 225's.
The Spare is 31x10 and it looks like it is the original BFG, never been on the ground.

I'm thinking about going to a 235 but not sure what that will do to the performance and mileage. The Differential code is G144 which should be 4.88 ratio with 4 pinions.

If I go with the smaller tire, I have to buy 5 so that may not be such a great idea.

that wont do much to your performance and mileage, you'll take a bit of a hit but it'll probably add up to about $30 in a year for gas.

In 94 the big tire package came with the 4.88 with the auto tranny. All the t4r's only listed the regular tire size on the door sill.

You will get a boost in performance but you milage may suffer bit ((after speedo correction) do to the gearing, check out this link.

I am in the same perdicatment. My spare is a 31 and I am running 31's but the door says 225. How do you easily determine the gear ratio, is it on the sticker as well and if it is the 4.88 is that good for the 31's?
