When I lived in Nebraska, I would commute from Lincoln to Omaha, it was roughly 60 miles from my apartment to the office (I shared an apartment with my brother who was in college, plus Lincoln was a better place to live at the time). I think it took me 50-60 minutes to commute one way, traffic wasn't bad and I drove a 1993 ford probe gt, 5 speed, ok gas mileage. When I moved to Tulsa, I had about a 15 mile commute one way, during rush hour it could be 30 minutes to get to work or home.
When I was in college, I was commuting about 80 miles one way 2-3 times a week for my internship, well worth it for a paid internship while I was still in college.
Now and for the past 6 years, I've been working from home, so I have about a 9 second commute, on a good day....dodging toys and dogs, it may be closer to 12 seconds.....
Seriously, if the work is better at the new company or you're going to be doing more or learning more, consider the new position. As someone put it earlier, consider the devil you know now versus what you don't know. How do you know you won't have the same crap at the new company?? Now, you have an 80 mile commute and the same stuff, different company....just a thought....
I've thought about a different job if/when this one gets to me or I want to learn more than what I am presently, I would even consider a 20-30 minute commute, just not sure I could handle another 80 mile one way commute.
Hope that helps some,
