What is this bolt? Transmission extension crossmember question

Hey guys,

Recently got a 97 4runner, My first 4runner, and first car I actually wanted/love. So its kinda the first Car I really enjoy working on and tinkering with. Ive always been a motorycycle guy, and any cars I had I just drove when it rained... haha, and they were generally just stupid and cheap. Got a family now, so motorcycling has taken a step back. Anyways...

Im doing by best to not ask a ton of question on the forum, and trying to find the answers on my own first via searching, or manuals.

So pardon me for possibly asking a stupid question.

I cant figure out what this bolt is/does and if it should be lose like this. I can turn it by hand about a half a turn in either direction. I can see it in diagrams, but its never mentioned, so Im just a bit confused. Hopeing one of you can tell me if I need to snug this sucker down tight, or what its even for.

its part of the mount.
i believe its considered a "safety" mount. its there for IF the rubber mount breaks, or become detached from the metal. it will prevent the amount of lift, and movement the trans has.

Ah thank you! That makes sense.

Always makes me nervous when I'm crawling under my truck and I find loose bolts.

It looks shot. Should be replaced. You don't turn the large bolt, but rather the smaller ones that hold the mount to the trans. It's easy to replace:
1. With your jack raise the rear part of trans housing near the mount only enough to remove the weight of trans from mount (DO NOT place jack under trans fluid pan!).
2. Remove mount from trans and cross member with the smaller bolts.
