What is this under the passenger seat?

Hello All,

Just now looked under the passenger seat for the first time in six weeks of ownership and have no idea what its purpose is?

If anyone knows, please school me on my T4R.

There is also a heater core, if you look underneath the vehicle in that spot you will see where the hoses come thru the bottom. Mine works great.... but you can't put an amp there.

Also - if you have a 96 -2000 (???) and have rear heat, you should probably eyeball the black painted steel lines that run from the firewall down and under the floor to underneath the rear heater unit. They can rust and leak. 01-02 (I'm assuming 01 was the first year???) trucks had non-rusting lines. I snagged some in a junkyard and replaced them on my '99. The original steel lines I took off were*really* close to leaking.

Although... I just saw where the OP lives, Scottsdale AZ. Yeah, probably doesn't have to worry about salt-belt stuff like this.

I may have the most rust free 18 year old T4R on the forum.

And I so wish it had a rear A/C. The rear heat will only gather cobwebs.

No rear heater. Only the kids sit in the back and those little jerks can freeze.

Interesting. Wish I’d known this when mine went. I ended up just cutting it off up top and down below and running some rubber hoses instead.

I took mine out all together. Now the wife can stick about 20 pounds of books in that space when traveling.

I kept things all intact in case I ever want to put it back in.
