Left and Right Seat Bases Interchangeable ?

Does anyone know if you can just swap the left and right seat frames/ bottoms?
I scored a mint passenger seat and wondering if I can just swap it with my drivers bottom , frame and all ?

Frames? No. the feet are side specific. You can swap the cushion part itself interchangeably, same with the back depending if you're picky about where the lumbar switch is (if it has one).

I was aware the seats are different mounts to the floor . I was referring to the cushion and its little frame , one that comes out with the 4 little bolts and the seat pops off the actual frame . Thanks anyways though .

You can remove the bottom cushion part without removing the seat and bolt it into a different seat frame . The cushion section has its own frame , independent of the part that bolts to the truck .
This entire topic is because there are a lot of really good passenger seats out there and if the bases can simply swap from Pass to Drivers side , this would help a lot of people really . The back part , it just slides off , there's only 2 hog rings that need to be cut . I'll have all the answers and post them in a couple days .

That sounds promising. I might swap my current passenger and driver bottoms if it's that easy to do. The driver side just has a tiny bit of wear on the outer bolster, and the bolster is a tiny bit beaten down (267K miles). It won't show or matter on the passenger side.

The '99+ cushions are different only in that the passenger side has an occupancy sensor. The shape is the same. If you are working with a '96-'98, this is a non-issue.
I moved my '99 passenger occupancy sensor over to a set of '97 sport seats and swapped foam/padding from left to right at the same time to get a bit more life out of the old parts.

On 99/00 seats they have the passenger occupancy sensor, but it doesn't affect the air bags, only makes the seat belt warning persist if someone is in the passenger seat but not buckled. That's all you lose by snipping the wires and swapping seat bottoms.
I just did it on my 99, very slightly sagged outer bolster on the driver seat is now against the center console, and the way fresh passenger seat bottom is on the driver side.
Better than free, I earned 11 cents! Found a dime and a penny under the seats where they'd never have been retrieved otherwise. Took about 45 - 50 minutes.

^^^ Yes, true. Looking back, I'm not exactly sure why I moved the occupancy sensor over...
The sensor IS connected to the airbag system on the 01/02 and should be used - otherwise your passenger airbag likely won't deploy.

how difficult was it to move the occupancy sensor? is the occupancy sensor brittle? any special precautions that you took?

I was able to pull it off without too much trouble.
Stock '99 (non-sport) foam:

The '97 seats were completely disassembled for this - they were left outside with an open sunroof for at least one rain storm and had some 'issues' - but laundering and some TLC brought everything back.
