What is this?

Just purchased a 2006 4Runner Limited 2 weeks ago and just noticed this above the P on my console. Can anyone tell me what it is? It looks like there should be some type of cover over it.

It's the shift interlock and, yes, there should be a plastic cover over it. Rather than go into more detail here, take a look at this thread:

Thanks for the fast reply and information. I'm gonna check on the Toyota site and see if I can get a replacement cover for it.

partznet.com for a 2005 4R. (pretty sure it doesn't matter if its an SR5 or Limited or what year, again, pretty sure they are all the same)

Thanks for the link. I just checked on that site and found the console diagram. It looks like it might be #34 on the list but hard to tell.

That part number you provided worked. It shows $2.11. Can't gor wrong on the price and it will let me clean the console up.
