What is this?

So I just traded in my '03 for an '07 V8 Limited and I found this connected to the passenger side headlight...what do you think it is? There is no markings or numbers on the small black box pictured....

That is weird... just tapped into the headlights like that? I'd just take it off then. Never seen anything like that in all my electronic tinkering.

totally strange - is it at all possible to take the cover off of the black box?
it's hard to tell from the pic but is it connected in-line with the vehicle power for light?

could it be for an aftermarket alarm or something like that?

But seriously, it almost strikes me as something like a wireless transmitter that is feeding power off of your headlight lines. Since you could move it around, maybe you could crack it or something? Otherwise, it doesn't look very important to the overall system functionality.

Wireless relay? Instead of running wires to an aux device, you can spend more money is use these wireless ones.

what else in the way of add-on's turns on/off with the headlights ? it's wireless signal to something else ( just a guess )

trailer, home alarm system, electric access gate...

Did you mean fogs? The low beams are already on when your highs are on.

Isn't that the turn signal? Is it one of those resistors for using LED bulbs? I'm talking about the thing that loads the wire enough to make the flasher work properly.
