What jack do you use?

What jack does everyone use? I have an 8 ton bottle jack that works great, but it isn't quite tall enough to jack up my runner. Usually I place a block of 6x6 under it and it works fine to jack up the frame. However, this morning I had a flat, like completely flat. It was sitting too low to use the block, but the jack wasn't long enough to get it high enough to get the spare on. I ended up having to jack it up as high as it could, place a jackstand under, let it down on the jack stand, then jack up again using the block.

It was doable, but a bit of a pain. Especially @ 7am as I'm trying to leave for work. I don't have a lift, just the 99 talls and 265/75/16 tires (its a 99).

Does anyone have a good jack or system they recommend to make this easier? Most of the bottle jacks I see only have about an 18" reach. Are there any taller that also fit under the frame?

Pittsburgh 3 ton low profile rapid pump. $99
Sometimes on sale for $78. Works great.
Also have 2 factory Toyota jacks one in the truck and one in the garage for doing suspension work.

My Pittsburgh 3 ton low profile didn't last 2 years it leaks down and wont hold. Maybe you have better luck then I did. :(

The super duty one is the same as a snap on jack. Snap on sued Harbor freight and lost because they are made in a Chinese factory and that company just built the same jack for Harbor freight. A buddy and I have had these Jack's for 2 or 3 years with zero issues

Yeah I got the low profile for my bmw 3 series because of where the jacking point paws are located a regular jack was too tall. I think I've had it 4 years and then some. I've had to add fluid to it once. But since then its been great.

About the daytona jacks I read into all of that about snapon and found it pretty amusing! Even their Pittsburgh pro flex head ratchets look like snap on. Gotta love harbor freight! (On certain things).
 
Harbor freight Daytona jacks are great. I have the orange one at home, but the yellow one is by far the beefiest. We use them at work to jack up 10+ vehicles a day and are just starting to have wear issues after about 2 years.

I bought one of those yellow Daytonas last year, great jack. Low enough profile that I could even jack a lowered car that had a flat tire.

You have a point on the weight. However, I rather have a heavy Jack then have a non working one. :]

I have a 3 ton craftsman and a 2 ton generic someone gave me with a 6” long pipe welded to it. I use the 2 ton for the 4Runner.

have the Daytona long reach ( high lift).with my other older craftsmen 3ton jacks ( and the talls with 265/75/16) I had to use a block of wood to lift tires off ground. Not with the Daytona, I also use the higher 6ton jack stands, like those extra heights.


guess I should say, I had a Daytona long reach, its in Oregon and it did not make the move this year, it will next spring on move #2, with my 20 ton press and roll around tool boxes
