I cant happier than with Atrac , that system kicks butt when the center diff. is locked. It also shuts off the ele. stuff (VSC) but not anti-lock brakes.
Camp , Do you have a 2wd or a 4wd ?
I would love to have lockers , but really cant see a need for them with the wheeling I do. If I was rock crawling like Thai did it would be great. Really dont know what the diff. would be in the mud pit , since the Atrac allows all 4 wheels to drive anyway in hi & lo range.
When I looked at Tacoma's there is the sport addition that is 4x4 with limited slip rear diff.
The other is Off Road addition has 4x4 with rear ele, locker that can be used in lo range only ( in stock form , some have modified that to use in hi range but have had problems ).
Personally I would take the Sport edition limited slip as it works in 2wd , 4hi & 4lo. Much more useful in most all situations , of road , street , snow storm driving ect... climbing on rocks ect.... the locker would be preferable , BUT I'm talking about us who use their trucks for daily driving in all kinds of road and off road conditions. If it was just my off road toy that would be a different story.
I if I bought an FJ , I would opt for the rear locker because from what I understand it does have Atrac in front & rear axles , and to have that locker switch would be great to have if you needed it .
