What load range for tires?

I know the great tire debate wages on, but a puncture is forcing me to look sooner than I've planned.

Have you guys been successful running the SL rated tires? In all reality, most of my offroad driving is forest roads around the PNW, not actual trails so I'm pretty sure I can get away with em. I do have plans to do a Utah trip and possibly a trip to Death Valley at some point in the next few years, nothing hard core, but certainly get off the pavement.

I plan to run 265/70-17 and it seems that most are SL or E, which I really don't think I need E rated tires. Pretty sure I've already talked myself out of Duratracs, which I love on my Silverado, I' just not sure I can justify getting them again on the vehicle I drive to and from work. Looking at the Nitto Terragrappler, Hanook Dynapro ATM, Cooper ATP/AT# (what's the difference), and the BFG AT2.
