Is that paint or vinyl wrap?

Had it wrapped professionally. They tucked it nicely under the seam between the scoop and hood. And under the back hood edge. I chose the Avery matte medium gray vinyl because their product had no shine and most closely matched the silver paint color. Two year guaranteed.

What does that cost? I am wanting to do that to the scoop area, and have my fender trims wrapped (or painted) in same color. I realize they tucked it under for you, but what about from the side, is that wrap prone to peeling from say washing or other things like that?

You gotta pay for good quality work. I normally do a lot of my own work, but I have no experience with vinyl wrap so I decided to pay for the experts to do it. I’m in the SF Bay Area where the cost of living is rather high. It took about two hours to complete. Cost was $150. Quality shop with great reviews.
They specify no washing for 7 days. Then hand wash only for 14 days. After that, high pressure washing is OK. Two year guaranteed. I’m very pleased with the results.
Go for it.

RAD Rubber engine side splash guards.

My 4R was nice and quiet for the first seven day trips in Spring 2018 but on our first trip to Utah later that spring it developed an obnoxious squeaky noise, only off-pavement, went away on pavement. Eventually, while rotating tires I noticed that the engine splash guards on the sides are flimsy and the driver side also a little loose. I tried to fix it and it kinda worked but not really well. Finally, I got the RAD rubber guards. We have only had one trip so far, but we did 100 miles over a variety of terrain with no more noises.

I had been filing away in the memory hole what my engine splash guards were going to do when they start making that irritating noise down the road.

Thanks to this post I ordered and installed a set of the RAD splash guards and these are great! The quality is fantastic and install real quick. As a side note to a post earlier about extra mounting clips, I received 3 extra ones with my order, so someone was listening.

Vinyl is a huge pain to work with if you don't have experience with it. So good call, also that's a solid price, even though i'm sure that piece wasn't all that difficult. My first experience with vinyl was the grille on my f250....literally took 6 hours:tape2:

New setup is about as perfect as you can get without building additional speaker pods:
Focal 690/165TOY setups in front and rear doors
a ton of Dynamat in the doors and hatch
JL Audio 400x4 amp for the speakers
JL Audio JL 10" W7 sub in a sealed box
JL Audio 600x1 sub amp
JL Audio Fix86 (a DSP which allows you to keep the stock head unit but get full-spectrum sound and a proper equalizer panel)


Also +1 on upgrading the headlights to HIDs.

Love that I can monitor the vehicle, check the battery voltage, see if the doors are locked or not, and also remote start the vehicle from anywhere. I loved my remote start but the stock key range didn't help much for places outside of my driveway. Definitely recommend if you're buying a remote start to spring for the module as well, it's awesome!

I tried to stop the squeak with some gorilla tape on the top hole but apparently you have to do that with all 4. Was still getting some noise. Too much of a whip.

Did you need an aftermarket harness to run out from the OEM head unit to the JL Fix86, then back into the OEM speaker harness from the JL amps? If so, what did you use?

Based on the old Runner, as soon as my new ORP comes in it's gonna get new BFG KO2s, TRD skid plate, and C4 Fab sliders. That's just to make it as good as my '10 Trail. After that, who knows?

Is there anything you don't like about it?

Nope, it's a pretty simple interface but it does everything that I need. I like seeing the battery voltage and confirming if the doors are locked. It starts up every time, haven't had one issue.

The wife caught me starting my truck with my phone a couple weeks back and even she was impressed lol

Awesome. Appreciate the feedback. One last question, what if you forgot to lock your doors. But you’re in the movie theatres and your movie is about to start, are you able to remotely lock your door from the app?

Yes, you can lock and unlock the doors using the app. I've done it several times, that's why it's so useful to see if they are locked because if you forgot you just click the lock button on the app and you're good

Mine was a hitch cargo rack. Nothing fancy but practical when camping with 4 kids and a dog. I’m not a fan of climbing gear on and off the roof - plus wind drag and decrease gas mileage. It holds a huge action packer trunk holds tons of gear.

Second was a cargo liner - great for dogs and dirty hunting gear.

Next - good floor mats and a fridge.
(Remember 4 kids and now 2 dogs)
