I installed my opening on the bottom and the radio on the top. You could run your Ipod wire into the space.

My truck had the smaller DIN tape/radio and I had an OEM piece for the slot which still fit after i installed my alpine and it's great for holding my phone and iPod.

the pocket should be on the bottom lol

well it came with that ipod cord, but it goes through the glove compartment(go figure)...

I have my stereo on top and then i just leave the remote for it and my cell phone in the empty bottom portion while i'm driving. Put down some of that non slip stuff so w/e you put in there wont go sloshing around whenever you make a corner. lol

You can move it so that it goes to that little opening. It's a personal preference.
