What octane of gas do you use?

Premium Fuel use in a 4th Gen V-6 engine
anyone read this article from LCOOL's web site about the Prado with a V-6? Wondering if our V-6 engines will work the same. At $2.22 for Regular and $2.45 for Premium it would be interesting to run premium but actually lower our gas bills. Read below for the write up that I copied from their site:

i use 87
I moved from Istanbul, Turkey which is in european continent. We have unleaded 95, 98 and even 100 octane(shell vpower) options in Turkey.
I had an .Opel, Astra egelance 2003 automatic transmission 1.6lt(bought it new). I used to use 95 octane which is the regular option. And after all the adds about highest octane, i decided to put 98 octane(when it was 2 years old). Violaaa!!! Its like i bought a new car again.
I noticed couple of things with the car.
1) Car got faster on jackrabbit starts which you need it alot in Istanbul.:driving:
2) Car made less noise over the speed of 100mph. Once i put 100 octane and could get to 125mph with less noise. I miss those days.I will be in jail in states for that speed.

I havent tried using anything else other than regular in my 4runner. Im quite happy with the way it runs and handles and wont need more. But im sure it will make so much difference if you put higher octane in it.
If you use higher octane for a long time, dont switch back to regular, you might be dissapointed with the performance of the engine. It will seem less powerfull.

I started using 93 when i first got the 4r and fill up once on a 800 mile trip using 87 and notice i was getten better MPG with 87. so i been using 87 ever since. really i cant tell the different in performance between the two.

Wow, i've never used anything except Chevron since the day I received my 4runner. What would make you lose 30 miles per tank? Is Shell still a Top Tier Station?
The reason I always use Chevron is because it's a Top Tier Fuel, and the Techron helps keep it cleaner, does Shell have anything in their gas?

I've stopped using ARCO for over a year. With our hondas it didn't really matter too much which gas we used. they got great mileage no matter what. I did notice a bit more power with the 91 octane but not enough for it to be worth the price tag. We live on top of a mountain and the only gas station up here is Chevron. Down the hill is only 7 miles and we use the 76 down there. The cheapest gas is the Safeway (Vons down south) and Valero is a close second for cheap gas. I think that Toyota makes a great vehicle and it won't matter too much, mechanically at least, as to where you buy gas.
We keep track of all our gas purchases in a "gas book". I write down the ODO reading, trip (reset every FULL tank), quantity of gas put in , and the cost of gas put in along with the date and where I filled up. My father got me in this habit and my wife's father always did it as well. It helps to track how the vehicle is performing somewhat. That's how we calculated MPG before the fancy trip computers =) It's also how I notice when certain stations are ripping people off. It has to do with private ownership and not the corporation but it still bothers me enough to not use those stations anymore.
