What should I inspect on an 07 4Runner as a new owner?

Thanks! Seat covers are on my short list if my past one’s color looks too bad. I have always used front seat covers on leather and etc.. I get filthy or etc and need to move on while fishing, auto work, firewood, metalworking, woodworking, metalworking and etc. I also like for the SUV to look decent and wash the covers. I doubt my tweed looking reddish/black will look decent. Any suggestions for the Gold color and from where?? Locally, Pep-Boys had the best of the worst and we made the covers. BUT! We had 2 pair of SheepSkin covers that should go with the gold.

I did the general inspection that were related to my 40 + years of basic automotive general maintenance/testing/tuning work. I also respect not knowing the T4R or any car that I h/n owned or serviced regular to know specific needs and asked for tips. jow

Twist what? I was taking issue with your curious choice of words to describe typical 4Runner owners of the colors you mentioned, not your hypothesis about gold 4Runner owners.

If a young, dumb and full of ....wanted a 4Runner....he will want red, black, silver, maybe white or even blue. Do you think he will go for the gold one? No. That was my whole point. It was twisted in terms of you thinking I was declaring all 4Runners owners who DON'T have gold are subject to the cliche of young dumb and full of ..... This is were you misinterpreted and twisted it. I was NOT claiming any such thing. but I am claiming the probability of a gold 4Runner having a better chance of being maintained correctly and driven modestly. I AM NOT claiming (nor did I ever) that all other (non-Gold) 4Runners have been rode hard and put away wet....making such a leap from my post is ridiculous. I was claiming that the gold ones have a high probability of original integrity based on the Probability that it was not rode hard and put away wet b/c some young, dumb and full of .... kid wouldn't pick it.

Simply stated, you tried to bash me and twist my statement to fit your needs as you attempted to scold me for making such a statement against fellow 4Runner owners (but this is a statement you leaped at). So....yes and apology is in order.

The Dealer’s Tech’s test drive and alignment machine saw my concern that the T4R was off but said that’s the nature of the Beast (to pull lightly vs a car). They made the adjustment which I s/n have noticed and I h/n noticed it has been adjuster. It tested pulling left and right with Tech’s driving and the machine showed it off left. I wonder if new tires are affecting this that will settle or I’ll adjust to it with time??

With my totaled 1993 Explorer’s 4,000.00 insurance pay after 15 years of service, the 07 T4R’s 23,000.00 out the door was not too bad. The Explorer was 15.000.00 out the door back then with a 2-year warranty (that covered a 500.00 engine rear main seal w/o a deduction. The next 15 years should be interesting. I cruised a fishing hole by the Dealer today I had not fished since the 1970's. jow

I’m sure the Certification and 160 “Quoted Check-Points” would be enough verification on the condition of the SUV for most individuals. From my past experiences I like to check a portion of their “quoted inspections” and do a few of my own. In most cases I perform my inspections or real concerns or use personal shops within the 3-5 day return policy. In many cases I never leave the lot for a test drive due to what I see, hear or feel. My last line of insurance is to always purchase a Repair Warranty if the cost dictates the insurance.

I felt I should have been given a copy of the 160 points checked, results and listed repairs if needed. They gave me a blank copy and said the original has been sent to Toyota. I’ll ask Toyota for a copy of the original or it “Carbon”. I have reasons and questions with the request: 1. Was there a fee for the checks and preformed services above the list cost (since repairs were noticeably made to place this SUV in a 1st Class State. 2. This list’s results should help me to move forward with continued maintenance. 3. Hopefully, this list will verify charges that the Sales Manager tried to pass to me that I d/n buy.

I’ll challenge this SUV being Certified by Toyota Bumper To Bumper and not being able get service at my closest Dealer or my choice. I was told I had to return it to where I purchased it or I’ll have a 100.00 deductible that does not apply to power train issues but power windows, door locks etc).
