What should I look for when going to buy a crawler from someone?

Hey,

I'm going tomorrow to look at this guy's crawler he has built.

91 4runner
v6 160,xxx miles
manual tranny
dual case set up
said that head gaskets were changed recently
passed smog yesturday
cryo'd gears
lifted with SAS in the front, 63" springs in the back
he says all welds are done professionally
rocker arms
elocker in the front
i forget what kind of locker in the rear
Goodyear MTR tires

But yea my question is what would you guys look for if you were to buy a crawler from someone?

I wouldn't buy a crawler already built, that's someone else's mess that you are going to have to fix and clean up.

yes and no. Its price dependent. What is the asking price on this Crawler?

To start with, you need to be able to verify what he says.
Do you know what all that is when you see it?
Why were the HG's "recently " replaced?
Why is he selling it?
If you need it to be street legal will it pass inspection? (probably not, even if it has tags now)
What size tires and is it geared to match?

Check the quality of the welds on the sas. There are a lot of crawlers thrown together with junk and some are very high quality and well thought out. You get what you pay for.
