I am getting a 10,000lb winch and I am looking to get some snatch blocks in my recovery kit.
I am wondering if I should get ones that are rated at 20,000lb or more? Or is a 10,000-15,000 ok
I figure the doubling of the winch rating is a good start or...

I depends on what the rating really means. Working Load Limit (WLL) or failure. If its failure I'd want at least double the winch rating. If its WLL then it depends on what the safety factor is. For most the the overhead lifting industry I believe its 5 to 1. So if the WLL was 8000lbs failure is then 40K. But you need to know the safety factor and I've never seen that stamped on anything.

Safe bet is just just get yourself a quality ARB or similar unit that is designed for the size rope on your winch and you should be OK. Personally, recovery equipment is not a place I try to save a few dollars.
