What speakers should I get for my 06 Limited?

Money is really not a big deal but id like to keep it low but still get some good quality. What do you guys suggest? I already have subs and new head unit. any advice is greatly appreciated.

don't get coaxial. Get component speaker for the front so the tweeter is higher up and make sure that its non-metalic so that it's not straining on your ears.

Fronts: Polk Audio DXi 5250 5-1/4" component speaker system at Crutchfield.com

Rear: Polk Audio db651s 6-1/2" 2-way shallow-mount car speakers at Crutchfield.com

I've had good luck but I haven't used them in a build for quite some years so i'm not sure of the quality anymore.

Ironicaly, even though Toyota/JBL and many other vehicles put those tweeters high on the door like that, doesn't mean it's the best imaging. Alot of times, having the tweeter right near or mounted onto the midbass/midrange (like in coaxials) gives better sound imaging.
 
Do you think I would have to get a better amp if I got those? Cmon guys, what speakers have worked really well for ya!!

In an effort to get better drivers...you could just not upgrade the rear doors. The rear doors do nothing but get in the way when it comes to good sound imaging. You want 80-90 percent...if not all of your voice (tweet/midrange) to come from a forward position. Sometimes rear fill can be beneficial, but I wouldn't consider the rear door location to be "rear" fill since they are only just below your ears and back about a foot which is closer than the fronts.

You could still run the rear doors and adjust with the fader settings on the HU...but IMO, spend a bit more on some better drivers for the front doors.
 
yes, i would get a small rms amp for the speakers. you don't have to, but they're going to be craving power! ill try and find a decent one for you and it could be thrown under the seat pretty easily.

im with Offroader5, with the location of the components in the 4r i would keep them coaxial-like in terms of layout. i also agree about spending your coin on better fronts and worrying about the rears when something goes wrong with them. if you've got some subs in the back (for the love of god i hope they're not bigger than 12") i think youll be most happy with this setup.

im having a ****ty day at work but this is like your 15th thread ive seen in the last month, 90% of which i knew the answers to and searched just for the heck of it to see how easy it was and found info on. jus sayin, not trying to be an ass. ive posted a few dumb threads so im guilty too.

I have JL C5 6.5" Components in the front doors running off a JL 500/3 amp. JL TR 5.25" in the rear running off the HU. Sounds awesome.

The previous posters are right, don't waste money on the rear doors. I have my fade run almost all the way to the front.

I have a full set of Alipine Type S's that I used in my 03 Sport that sounded great on the JBL amp. PM me if you're interested in them.
