What stereo and alarm systems do you use?

I was thinking of upgrading my factory stereo to something a little more modern than tape deck, something with an AUX port and maybe upgrading the speakers and quality as well. At the same time why not put an alarm on the good ole 4runner. Which leads me to the question of what stereo system and alarms do you guys have/like and why?

it really depends on you budget, what features you are looking for and why.

i have a double din nav and components front and rear doors and one 10 inch sub im an audiophile so i like my music very natural.

I have a flip out Jensen touch screen that I hate, and a Viper alarm/remote start combo which I love. I'm thinking of putting a single 12" sub in the back, and it'll be a kicker solo-baric probably.

Budget is around $400 for both, I'm thinking $150 for alarm and $250 for stereo, its a little flexible either way. I was wondering if anyone has put a sub in the rear passenger storage panel as a means to keep the cargo area clear of any obstructions? How much was the viper set up you have Blackcat?

For a head unit in the truck I have a Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD not as good of a sound quality as my Alpines, but am still stuck in stock speaker limbo. I've not come up w/ a brilliant solution to being able to add my sub and amps for everything and have room for things like the fridge, tools, recovery/towing gear etc.

For alarm I threw in a used Viper 791xv. Decent protection and I <3 my remote start.

i'm not an audio guy, i love my music but as long as it's not distorted and i can sing along i don't care, i love my AVH-xxxxbt unit like stick figure has.

i believe mine is the 2800 model and can be had for around $280

Total cost was about $220.

If you don't have a full 4-channel amp then buy the Alpine 45Wx4 power pack amp for $140 since it is plug and play.

Best setup for $360 - I guarantee it!

Here is my new (used) Alpine 9835 MP3/CD Head Unit. I cannot stress enough how much of a difference the 4V pre-out, 109db signal to noise ratio and the TILT feature make this thing awesome. Bought on ebay for $109 + $99 for a new faceplate.

I honestly don't know what it cost, it was in the car when I bought it. I has this real fancy display on the key fob and works from a real long way away.

I have a Alpine CD-HD137BT I have really enjoyed it the BT features work great I love the Audio streaming from my iPhone. The pic is from the day I installed it yes I have removed the sticker . I got mine from Crutchfield for $179 after a $20 off coupon from Retailmenot.com.

i have an alpine 9886 (discontinued now) deck and i love it! super easy to use and has many functions i need/love minus bluetooth but you can get an adapter for it. but as far as a new deck goes, JVC, kenwood, alpine and pioneer are solid decks! cant go really wrong with any of them. when it comes to alarms, i have a compustar alarm/starter combo. greatest thing ever. stick with compustar all the way! they are very easy to diagnose and easy to install and they are very reliable. i would not go with any other company for alarms. good luck!
