300k 1989 v6 3.0 (so slo - but way better the the 4 ) sr5 black with a blown head gasket ... i got got bougt the truck with a leaky radiator fix then all the problems i luv this truck its my 2nd 1 st gen the other was a 22re .... what to do fix the 3.0 and spend alot of money then have the gasket go again or do a 3.4 conversion and bust my knuckelss and stress about parts ... i cant decide or even buy a newer one ... aaaaaagggggghhhhh :bash: :awais:

I'm having a hard time understanding your post, but I would recommend swapping the blown V6 for the more reliable 22RE.

I'm not trying to start an arguement but..... It did last 300k that seems pretty reliable. I'd go with the 3.4 5VZ if you are gonna spend the money

Well, they have come out with improved HG's that overcome the weaknesses of the original.
If a "proper" replacement is done, it may not fail again. :

what ?? put a 22re in it ..man thats like going backwards .. i live around big hill / mountains and like to put a couple o pals in the back .... with gear ...

yeah it went 300k with a 3.0 its a miracle ... prolly on the 5th hg haha but i luv my truck

so im looking at spending lots o money either way .. about 1600.00 for a new 3.0 then expect to blow the hg at about 70-65 k ???

or go big and spend bout 1900.00 for the 3.4 then 1100.00 to ors .. not to mention all the busted knuckles and head scratching .... :awais: will it be worth it in the end .... will it sit on me drive way for ever

or i should just buy a newer 4runner like a 98 or...????

I friend of mine replces the HG every 100 K for his personal whatever. It may be wise rebuid what you have.
