What to do to MtnChick's Purple Horse?

The Purple Horse has been doing great. I've put almost 10k miles on it since June and except for a belt type noise that I think has something to do with the power steering (maybe solved) it has had no issues since those that came with it were fixed. Haven't had a reason to drive it in deep snow yet. So far I'd say it's a little more squirrely on slick roads than our pickups, but good. Last month we carried two deer and a small elk in the back and had no trouble towing a trailer with a real elk (mine
) up a rough hill. So, all is good except for:
In 31 years of living here this is the first time I've ever had a car look like this.
It's mostly that mag chloride de-icer they spray, but the brown is from sand that has salt mixed in. We're having sub zero temps right now so I can't even get it off of there. It's only the last couple of years that Idaho has been getting serious about spreading this crap on the roads. I'm missing the good old days when we drove on pot-holed packed snow all winter. :moping:

Feel free then to come to Sheridan Wyoming they don't put anything down (okay maybe a little sand) so it feels like your driving on a dirt road.

MtnChick: I echo [MENTION=10182]smallfry[/MENTION]'s sentiments, I call WY home as well, but am a student in IN, and my rig looks like that right now, there is a TON of the salt stuff on my rig, and I HATE it.
Bumper Choice
After researching bumper options I've decided what I want is an ARB on the front. I'm a little bothered by having to cut the end of the frame rails off to install it, but I like the crush zone and the fact that it's airbag compliant and designed to protect from animal strikes. Mainly want deer and small trees to bounce off. Actually would like to put one on everything we own. So, it's not imminent, but will probably start with the ARB, see how it looks, and then go from there on the flares, etc.
I have to take back my statement about the Runner being more "squirrely" than our pick-ups. My husband has been driving it quite a bit lately and thinks it handles particularly well on slick roads. So, yesterday he showed me the control he has with it in power slides. The back can definitely come around easier than something with a longer wheelbase, but what I called squirrely he calls responsive. The front really pulls it straight when the wheels are spinning. I don't know about the ABS though- pretty crappy compared to what we're used to on the new Tundras. Might disable that.
