What was the last 4Runner in RHD?

Hi all,

New here... and what a great site! I've currently got myself a 91 SR5 and I'm loving it. I was just curious to know what the last RHD 4Runner was... I haven't seen a single 3rd or 4th gen here in Australia. Did Toyota only make LHD models after 95? Shame really, I would have loved a 3rd gen

I'm not sure but I think Hilux Surf is avail in many countries as a RHD currently. If I have it right a Hilux Surf is a 4Runner.... :cheers:

Toyota Australia dropped the 4Runner in 95 and introduced the Prado instead. Why? Who knows.... but there are plenty of aussies like yourself who would love the 3rd and 4th gens. On the other hand, the Prado has never been sold in the US, but the 120 series Prado has been sold in the 'top of the line' spec as a Lexus. There are many yanks who would like the 90 and 120 series Prado in the base model spec for off-roading.
Although Australia stopped seeing the 4Runner after 95, Toyota continued them in Asia, North/Central/South America (not sure about Africa/Europe/Middle East). Obviously since Japan and several other Asian countries drive on the left, there are RHD 3rd and 4th gens. In Asia they are called the Hilux Surf (as CJ3 mentioned).
I have seen the occassional 3rd gen Hilux Surf in Australia and there are quite a few making it over to NZ too. They are still a relatively new 'grey import' for oz, since I believe they have to be 10 years old at least before they can be imported. The UK and Ireland are getting lots of 96-02 Hilux Surfs (lucky pricks!) with JDM options too.
If it makes you feel any better, I'm an aussie, and I drive a 3rd gen!

CJ3Flyr is right. Hilux Surf is 4runner. RHD Hilux Surf is still being sold in Japan!
