What went wrong?

I just replaced my radiator, everything went smoothly. I put all the hoses back on, tighten all the nuts, and screws. Filled the radiator with red kool aid, and boom heater is blowing cold air. What am I missing?

Did you burp out all of the air? Probably have an air pocket in the cooling system

Cant help but I wish my heater blew out cold air right now...

Burb the system and make sure you heater is on full heat while doing it so it circulates through the heating core.

Simple fix.

How do I burp it. I filled the radiator probably 3/4 full turned the car on with the heater on high checked for leaks. Continued to top off the radiator till it started pouring over let it idle till I didn't see any more bubbles then put the cap on. But no heat.

Seemed like the driveway effected it. Pulled it out in the street and pulled the cap, and it started bubbling. Heater now does work. I'll drive it around for a couple days then reburp to get the rest out. Thanks for the help

rev it manually via the throttle body to increase coolant pressure, it might help push air pockets out.

I have never had any trouble with any of our 4runners cooling system when draing and refilling. I drain it, disconnect the heater core hose and flush the core then I close the heater valve and flush the engine and radiator. I use compressed air to blow out the heater core and block. I then put in my gallon of red and my gallon of distilled water. I rinse out the overflow reservoir and fill about haf way with red and all is done.

Unless there is blockage of some sort I don't see there being any air pockets after the engine is brought to operating temp and allowed to cool JMHO.
