What would you do???

Hey folks! I've been experiencing some hard starting issues with the truck since installing my new fuel injectors. This led me to believe that the hard starts are related to the newly installed Refurbished injectors I got off E-bay. I went back to his selling page, but it clearly outlines that returns are not accepted. I contacted him via E-mail and advised him of my problem. He's been pretty good to admit fault, and wants to rectify the situation, by sending me replacements for any leaking or faulty injectors.

That being said, I don't have a butt load of money right now, as I've recently been let go from the job I've been at for 10 years. Therefore, I'm thinking one of 2 things, either A I figure out which ones are faulty, and get him to replace them for me?? (FREE) OR Bite the bullet, and just buy 1 locally to replace the bummed one I had on there?? ($190.00) I still have the other 5 Injectors.

What do you think??? Should I just replace the bummed one, and hope the other 5 old ones will be ok? OR Should I just have the seller replace the ones that are faulty???

Will the Dealer accept refunds if you are still having issues? If so, get an injector on your credit card so it dosent feel like its out of your pocket, in the mean time wait for the sellers injector to come in, swap out, return injector to dealer, be happy it worked out.
Atleast give him the opportunity to make good on his word if in fact he agreed to replace any faulty injectors for you. Not for nothing, but he really dosen't have to do anything for you. You really don't have a leg to stand on if he clearly states no refunds.


Cheaper is not better. Cheaper = taking a gamble.

Fightman, I'd work with the eBay seller first. This way you're not out anymore money. If it doesn't work, then consider buying 1 new one and use the other 5. But no point in spending the money now if you don't need to though.

Thanks for the reply PittbullRescuer and *****aaz! Another thing to consider, if I go through the seller, my rig is out of comission for 2-3 weeks! I'm gonna have to tear it apart, find out which ones are faulty, remove, then push the truck out of the shop, (I also use my shop to workout in) and then I'll have to wait for him to ship it. Aside from that, once I change out the faulty ones, what's to say his other refurbs don't crap out shortly thereafter?

If I go with a new one, I'll have to dish out a couple of hundred dollars, then tear down, replace, and put things back....but I'm done in a day.....

Just thought I'd throw that in there too....as these are some of the things I'm considering in making my decision....

take your 3g to a shop and have them diagnose which of the injectors is bad and then have the eBay seller replace that one? Im just thinking this would expedite the process and you wouldnt have to be w/o your 3g for 2 to 3 weeks.

yeah but he is not working... man idk fight, this one is a tough call, but i think id still go with the ebay seller... i mean your not working so you really dont need your rig to drive to work every day, and you do have a second vehicle if you do have to go somewhere... it sucks being down a car i know. and i know how crappy it is to not be working, trust me -going on a year with little work, just some odd jobs here and their and the national guard once a month... best of luck to you on both fronts finding a job and the runner

Take is apart, figure out which ones are fubar, and replace them with some of the older ones that I still have!

I'll do that, along with the Valve Cover Gaskets, and get it done in one day!

That's an option. Good idea. Would the eBay seller refund you if you send the whole set back? Thinking buying one new one, fixing it than getting refunded for the eBay set might not be a bad idea. That way you're just floating the money instead of really spending it.

Good thought....but the E-bay Seller is not offering a full refund....just willing to send me any replacements that are needed.....

That^. I'll bet your original ones are still fine. BTW, did you mark the bad original one or set it aside (so you don't accidentally re-install it)? Also, did you replace all the o-rings top and bottom when you did the job? And put a little vaseline on them so they don't tear when you put em in? If not, that could be the problem. Can you smell any gas when the motor is running?

Brian, I threw away the bad injector after testing it, and the refurbs came with new o-rings on them. We also put Vaseline on them when we did the install, so they shouldn't be torn....I usually don't smell any gas, unless it's right after the hard start.....I think the plan is to buy a Valve Cover Gasket kit (they are leaking , and I'm already gonna be down there for the 2nd time!), and just replace the faulty injectors with my old functional ones.

hey pal, so when i installed my injectors the first time, one of the ones the ebay guy sent me was bad already lol, i replaced all 6 and it gave me a misfire in a different cylinder. i did keep my old ones im thinking ill just switch the old ones that are good with the new ones that are bad, if im able to figure out which are the leaking injectors, but id have no idea how to test that. im going to open up betty lou this weekend ( thats my t4rs name haha) and see what i can do, ill let you know if i find an easy solution!
