Hehe, same here man! Pretty much lifted mine for looks and the occasional light trail, but mostly for the look. Haha. I know that lifting can cause problems, etc. but I REALLY wanted to have the look and knew I wouldn't be satisfied without it. But yeah, as long as the truck is mechanically sound I would lift

id lift it first then throw a bumper on it
For sure do a lift, then the bumper. I did mine the other way around, but only because some punk backed into my front end and his insurance blessed me with enough $$$ to get an ARB and a winch. That added weight caused some rubbing on 265 MT's for a while if I offroaded on hardcore mountain trails.

I say if you're happy with the size of the tires, then go lift for sure! Aftermarket bumpers look odd on a stock height Runner in my opinion. And the stereo is something you can piece together as you go along. In the end, just don't worry, we'll always find something for you to spend your money on.

Congrats on your purchase! This is a great site to get to know a lot about your rig. I watched people on here for months before I bought my rig. Take your time and do your homework. First find out every type of style of parts they make then talk to people who bought the one you like. Then purchase the best part for your rig.
The first mod I did was to remove those ugly running boards, then installed a new sound system. I will now buy my tires, and then lift kit. After that I will get a front ARB bumper and Winch, then a rear bumper, Tire Carrier, and gas can holders. Then top it off with a nice Roof Rack, with lights on all sides, rock sliders, and finally fill it up with lots of beautiful women. :tongue:

I had to vote for the piece of steel - personally - because I've already got a checkmark next to the lift & tires. 
Actually, I think my next enhancement will be rock rails, but the front & rear could definitely from some armor too ...

the 4runner has been in the family for 10 years. recently i put on new tires/rims and it changed the look totally. i lifted it not too long afterwards and its hard to believe the change after lookign at a stock 4runner for like 9 years or so. I go back looking at family pictures at times and see the stock 4runner..good times
