What would you like to see in a 6th gen?

This isn’t really what I’d like to see but I’m thinking the taco 3.5l v6 will be transplanted into the 6th gens and paired with an electric motor (phev). Those atkinsons engines are designed to be paired with e-motors so it makes sense. The new tacos may have that set up as well to solve the underpowered complaints (more power and better fuel economy)
Also, I just can’t see Toyota making a turbo (I4 or otherwise) as the base engine on the 4runner. Maybe on a Lexus but not a Toyota.

Better rear visibility would be nice.
Interior ergonomics could be greatly improved.
More comfy seats.
Solve the rust issues.
Lots of wind tunnel testing but don't make it too swoopy or trendy looking. Better mpg's.
All the safety sense stuff but make much of it selectable.
3rd row seats that are easily removable.
Lever actuated 4x4, e-locker type setup.
Better roof rack mounting points built in.
Put the old Lexus GX-470 engineers on it to add some spice to it.

I had a double post so edit-
Trim down the body some, less plastic. Function over form for a lot of the vehicle. Great stereo, nice hvac system, sound proofing. The tailgate opening up has been nice in the rain for me a few times. I'd sacrifice the lowering rear window for more rear visibility- give that area a look, a lot of plastic that could be traded out for more glass... flip up glass would be fine with me. I know that's a big no no for a lot of you. E-locker.
Turbo 4 hybrid, I guess I'm coming around to the idea because of the power and efficiency gains that could be had. Otherwise if they could develop a 6 cylinder package that gave 23 city 27 highway that would be good.
7 speed stick option with low crawl gear.

It's already July 2021 and no word yet (AFAIK) when this 6th gen will appear. Apparently not in 2022, which is the 13th model year of the 5th gen. :bored: I've seen 2023 mentioned, but what is the source?

Every source has said that 2023 MY is the soonest we will see it. this hasn't changed for years now - although it may very well be delayed.
No one has said 2022 MY release b/c that's the first year of the new Tundra.
The source was a screenshot of marketing presentation given at Toyota US corporate event.
Well the tundra was pretty much hush hush until just a while ago and it’s being released this year. So the 4Runner could most definitely be released in 23. Info could start trickling next year and than more info jus like the tundra this year. Remember the tundra was kept under wraps until someone leaked it. Only reason why Toyota released the pic. Yet still no one knows the engine and the tundra is coming out in months.
So this thing that ther hasn’t been any news on a new 4Runner really doesn’t mean much. The 4Runner can also be kept low key and and maybe even more since it will have a new body style as well. If it’s coming in 23. Than they will be hitting lots next fall of 22. That’s not far off from a potential madness by Toyota.
Wish all options were available in any trim - for instance you cant get leather, locker and 3rd row.

Keep the large knobs for as much as possible
2-3 more MPGs avg
Shorter grill in front of radiator. Do not like how 5g stick out so far.
