What would you trade your 4Runner for?

Trade my 4Runner!? NEVER! Haha. I have a 2008 and I wouldn't want to trade it for anything out there. If I was forced to, I would go for a 2009 4Runner (I'm not a fan of the redesign) or if I had to choose a different vehicle all together, then maybe a Tacoma or F150. The 4Runner suits my needs perfectly, although once in a while I wish I had a truck for hauling stuff - using the trailer or borrowing a friend who has a truck works well enough for me so far.

when mine dies, another 3rd gen, an FJ80, a 2000-04 tacoma, maybe an FJC. we'll see when the time comes. my top choice i think would be an FJ80 with the lockers followed closely by another 3rd gen. the only thing i don't like about the 80 is the lack of a manual trans.
Hands down...and without a doubt...a 1988 JDM Toyota Land Cruiser FJ-62 with the 4.0 Turbo Diesel. I had one when I lived in Japan. It was fully loaded, to include heated seats, FACTORY PTO front winch, and I lifted the suspension 6 inches and put 35's on it...what a ride and it still got good mileage...unlike these U.S. pieces of crap.
Unfortunately, I can not import one into the US because of our strict import laws (isolationism is alive and well...thank you unions and lobbyists! If you can't compete, lock em out!)...three more years...until then, I'll keep pretending I have a real truck with my baby brother of the Land Cruiser...the 4runner(Surf). Smaller, less options, less power, less torque, less capabilities, horrid mileage etc etc...sigh....:shrug:
I guess it's better than owning a Ford, Dodge, or Chevy

What would I trade my 4runner for?
Well, either a '09 trail edition or an '10 trail edition. Both in black of course. The 4runner works well for me so no need to experiment with other vehicles.
Now if I had to trade my silverado, that's a tough one. Tundra? Duramax? Powerstroke? Still not sure.

I love my 4runner, it does everything I want it to. Lots of room, power, its reliable, can tow enough, be somewhat comfy. I'd have to say if I had the money it'd be a LC with the 5.7 or the new F150 Rapter when they come out with the new powerplant. Those are f*cking awesome.

I traded my 2006 4Runner for a 2010 4Runner and LOVE it! I would change the color and the gas milage if I could but I can't so oh well! Other than that there are very few SUV's that I would trade for. One of the only small cars I would trade from would be a Subaru WRX. They are so freakin sexy to me!
Not to sound quaint, or conceded or anything, but I've owned a lot of trucks and SUVs in my time, my 2008 is my first 4Runner (but not my first Toyota, I still own a Gen 1/2000 Tundra in fact) and if I was forced to trade it today I would first look at the Gen 5 4Runner (2010), and then at new, unsold Gen 4s (2009) and then at used Gen 4 4Runners in general.
It is far superior to anything I've owned in the class (Durango, Blazer, TrailBlazer (I still own one of those for work BTW), K Blazers (older full-sized), Tahoes, you name it - consider, my first vehicle was a 1977 Dodge Ramcharger)) And by superior, I mean in every way - fit/finish, ride, power and overall quality - and I am a died-in-the-wool GM guy at that. My weekend car is a C6 convertible, my wife's most recent 2 cars were a 2007 Monte Carlo SS (5.3L V8) and her current Pontiac G8 GT (LS2 V8).
If you held a gun to my wife's head and said that I had to shed the 4Runner and get something, anything else but not another 4Runner - I'd opt for its sister, the Lexus GX - certainly since the new one (the 4.6 V8) comes with an AWD system similar to the V8 4WD 4Runners of late-Gen 4. I love the stability and control the pseudo-AWD (F/T 4WD) system provides, even if it yields only 20mpg on the highway. Like my Tundra, I will likely own my '08 V8 4Runner until I or it dies.

I'll speak as if mine was my Dad's car, which it really is since he paid for it. But he'd trade it in for a GT-R or the new NSX when it comes out.
