What your 4Runner can tow

My moms Yukon broke down so we had no option but to tow it home. Went and grabbed the car trailer and towed it home 45 miles. 4Runner did great pulling it. Only thing that it needed was a trailer brake module and a weight distribution hitch. Wouldn't recommend this daily or anything but if you don't have any options it's nice to know it is capable.

It was interesting. That is with aftermarket medium springs. Can't Imagine how bad it would of been if it was completely stock

T4R to the rescue haha!! The biggest thing I towed was my Corolla on a car dolly. She wasn't broken down, it was the day I bought my 4runner, drove my car there and then towed it back. 4runner handled it great, the air suspension kept her leveled out and the V8 made towing it unnoticable.

Trailer is about 2500 and sticker on the Yukon is 5500. So I'm figuring about 8k lbs or so. If you look at our books it's supposed to be able to handle 9600lb with a weight distributing hitch.

Have the V6 4.0 and have towed from Dallas tx to Houston, Shreveport, Noble OK, and Alabama was the farthest. I bought the Runner to tow the racecar, lol.

I tow a dual axle diamond plate trailer with a built fj40 (373 stroker, dana 60's) and a $hit ton of gear, I pack the fj with wood then pack 5 people in my t4r constantly. I do use the weight dist bars but I have towed up to 10k pounds with my 4.0L

when I tow the trailer with 3 quads I dont use the bars and there is a good amount of sag but its fine. Im running a 3" ome regular duty coil in the rear with stock shocks. 3" ome coils in front with 5100 bilstiens. I dont have any pics going there but heres one of me leaving. All the wood was burned

I towed my old 49 chevy with it a few times. Did just fine. Most I towed it for was about 35 miles, but this is with stock prings on my V6:

Next month I'll be running a uhaul car hauler with a 79 super beetle on it. Looking at right around 4500 lbs and not concerned at all. Although I am going to put a new suspension and air bags on first

Towed my 3,500lb boat up through NY State last year to lake George, it did amazing! Better than the old Tahoe we had! I'm planning to buy a 21 ft Excalibur soon so I know it won't be so easy going since that will put me right below the 5,000 mark loaded.
