What your 4Runner can tow

UHaul claims @2200lbs on the trailer and right around 2400lbs on the bug. I had all of my roof bag luggage in the bug on the way home so I figure in total I was around 4800.

I have a V6 with FJ (Moog) springs and 5100's all around. Plus AirRide 1000 in the rear. This shot was with the bags still at the 10psi daily pressure. Once I got to a compressor I pumped them up to just shy of 40psi and it leveled it out fairly well.

I just used my v6 all weekend towing my boat. My boat is 3100 dry.. and it had 50 gallons of fuel in it. It towed very well, launched and retrieved the boat perfectly. It towed better with my boat than when I tow my race car.

Yours looks just like mine did with my boat.. there is not much tongue weight at all, and the 4Runner rode well.

Good deal. Only other thing I was worried about is the trailer has had the brakes taken off it so not sure how hard that will be on the 4runner brakes. Boat looks like the titanic hooked to the 4runner though haha

What do you guys think, to much weight? Haven't got brave enough to take it out on the road yet. Dry weight is suppose to be 3200lbs on the boat.

3200 on the boat, figure around 1200 on the trailer and add a few hundred for boat options and fuel. I think you'll be fine towing and stopping. The fun as always will be hauling it out of the water.

I had a 21' bow rider on a double axle trailer much like yours and was able to launch and retrieve it in my old SportTrac which had the same towing rating as the 4Runner. It wasn't ideal, but it did the job.

This is usually what I tow when I go to practice and tournaments. This is an old picture I have since put on a different lift and tires.

And then the 2005 25ft airstream. I'm not really thrilled using the 4runner to pull this, so we recently purchased a 2014 Tundra Platinum.
