What's a set of third gen limited star wheels and tires worth?

Hey guys,
I've been looking for a clean set of 5 star limited wheels like the ones below. Guy locally has a set with BFG AT KO's in 265/75/16.

Currently running General Grabber AT2's in 265/70/16 so the size increase would be nice. Not a huge fan from everything I've read about the BFGs though.

Any idea what a set in 65% shape with these rims should go for? He's asking $550. He says they are in excellent shape. Below is the pictures he sent me. No lug nuts, just rims tires center caps

I can't spreak for the tires, but 5-Star wheels in very good to excellent condition as in your photo above (with center caps) should be worth between $60 - $100 each. In my experience selling these wheels there is a wide range in opinions about what they are worth.

Its a great deal if the wheels pass muster and the tires are as good as they look. Lug nuts aren't expensive. Just look 'em over good on all sides for plugs, damage, etc.

I will never buy a set of wheels without tires mounted (usable or not) so as to know they hold air, aren't cracked, etc.

Looks like a great deal to me, and you shouldn't be too much out of pocket once you sell the Generals.

BFG KOs are the best all around tire period. Here in Tennessee, you could get those wheels from $100-150 for all four and the center caps are a hit or miss. I would get those if you want the tires or just wait for some that are just wheels for cheaper.

The tires look good, and the rims look good, and you want them, I would say $550 is good, but offer him $500

Any idea why he is selling them?

I sold mine with hankook atm rf10 tires that had 22k but great tread still and my vehicle is garaged so no cracking for $350 and gave the owner the warranty certificates. Most of the offers I got out here in west Texas were for $200-300 so market could vary, I would say I'm in a low demand market lol.

A couple of years ago I sold my set on CL for $400 - they had Michelin LTX MS/2 with maybe 20% tread left. That was the price I listed, guy didn't even bother to counter. Hard to tell condition of the wheels with those pics, but if they're in decent shape and the tires are as he says I would think that's about right. Of course that doesn't mean you shouldn't haggle...

I paid about $300 for mine shipped which included wheels, center cap, and lugs. I'd offer him $500 and go from there. These lugs from the dealer are roughly $7 a piece by the way.

I had a set that had pretty worn tires , sold for $350. I like the look of them, and if I could have cheaply mounted the takeoff tire set I bought, I would have kept them.

I'll have a set for sale next week. Getting new wheels tomorrow. Mine are in pretty rough shape, $150 delivered within a reasonable distance of 21771 (MD/DC/VA/PA). Good if someone is looking to repaint.

If I can't sell I'll wait until spring and sandblast and paint and try selling again for a higher price.

Arent theese the wheels some guys put sim beadlock rings on them, if so they look awesome i know a guy that does that and sells the set for a good buck but im not really sure if theese are the exact wheels

I picked up a year or two back a second set of 3rd gen rims for $125(4 rims) and an additional 2 for $40 total Canadian. Kijiji......no tires included. First deal came with the factory lugs. It all depends on timing. Some people wanted $300 for 4 rims that are 15+ years old, that deal is not for me.

Well after meeting him they were worn down very bad on the edges on two. He did not disclose this in any email or contact even after I asked several times about the condition, even wear etc. so I did not buy them. No sense in paying that much for a set of tires that would have been gone in 5k miles.

Anyone have a super clean set anywhere in NC? Or be willing to ship??

Don't you love Craigslist for that? It's gotten worse and worse over the years trying to buy and sell used stuff. People expect something for nothing and people sell shit for gold. Makes it easier whenever possible to just spend good money and know what your getting and save the wasted time.

I sold mine in nearly perfect shape with factory lug nuts for $250. One wheel had light rash on about 12" of the outer edge. Three I believe of the 4 caps had yellowing from paint fade which is super common I've noticed. So overall I gave mine an 8/10 condition.

Good luck to you, again, there is car-part.com which lists junkyard inventory. Might find some that way, never know. It's worked for me a handful of time's and is a great resource for other parts.

If it was me I would just save up a little more and buy some new tires if that's what you need. I'm more of a funciton>form kind of guy so new wheels can wait. Buy them brand new from Discount Tire Direct or whoever has the best price for the tire your looking at.

KO's are great all-around but I've heard they don't do great in the mud due to the tread filling up rather quickly. I ended up going with Cooper ST Maxx's and couldn't be happier. They clean out easily and eat through any terrain, not to mention they're pretty damn quiet on the road.
