What's everyone using for storage boxes in their T4R?

Looking to get something like a truck vault but not willing to spend 1500 dollars for one. What's everyone using?

I use a low slung open top box that I can take in and out easily. I use the truck for diverse loads so a permanent solution is not practical. 20 bucks.

I know the larger action packer fits width wise. But I just use a simple collapsible milk crate contraption.

I agree with [MENTION=66316]1engineer[/MENTION]. I have a Rubbermaid container for off road gear. It holds portable compressor, deflator, tools, tire plug kit, folding shovel, small hatchet, strap, some pieces of 2x6 for a bottle jack base, fire extinguisher, etc. This cost $10. It's not as nice as a $500 space case, or even a $35 action packer.

Thanks for your reply. After googling space case I found that it was made by pelican. I think this is what I'm looking for, 500 hondo is much easier to swallow then 1500+ for a truck vault cae.

I took a Pelican shotgun case and added some Yakima Badging off of my Skybox and ........

Those things are awesome, just a little too spendy for me. The Rubbermaid has been fine so far, but of course the space case will probably survive the apocalypse.

I don't keep expensive stuff in the 4R because with my luck it will be stolen, that includes expensive storage containers. If someone sees an expensive case like a Pelican case they will think "oooh high end case, must be something expensive inside it" and want to steal it even more. That's why I just use cardboard boxes because who would steal cardboard? Fold them up when I need to prevent stuff from sliding around, fold them down and use them as a cushion when I load large stuff in the back. Cost $0 because I get them from work.

I used to have all of my stuff loose and rolling around in the back. Just bought one of the new Plano scent control trunks and use bungees with the built in tie downs, works great

I use one of the Plano XXL boxes ( plain black) . It has 4 latches and tie down mounts on both ends. I use ratchet straps to the cargo tie down rings so it basically becomes part of the truck. Rolled before and bungees don't. really do a lot for keeping heavier things in place.

LOL I use any manner of "portable" storage units; Rubbermaid, Plano, Crapsman, a few medium size Pelicans, ballistic nylon duffles, milk crates (both plastic and the elusive metal wire type), a couple of tubes, nylon rolls, ect.

I toss all my tools, slings, shackles, ropes, cables in a Plano Sportman's 68qt trunk I got on sale at Sportmans Warehouse for under $30. Fits easily both directions in the back, either along the side or up against the back seats. It has tie-down points you can loop over and ratchet strap it down while still allowing access to the contents. It's light, doesn't have weird inset grooves that limit packing ability, and its cheap. Nothing permanent, I too have to diversified load requirements to permanentize any storage contraption.

Five Rubbermaid ActionPackers in the 8-gallon size (Model 1170) will fit between the seats and cargo net beneath the cargo cover. Also, four of these ActionPackers will fit in a Yakima SkyBox Pro 16s with room to spare in the front of the Yakima where the nose tapers down. I load a collapsible cooler in that area. The ActionPackers are a nice modular storage option because you can configure them in many different ways. Finally found some in stock at REI and at Lowe's after many wasted trips to other big box stores.

Might also consider used ice chests. Pretty sturdy, can be lashed down and easy to move around.

Finally got a pic if my latest storage setup. The bins are from home depot and fit perfect in the cargo tray. All four bins will slide out in the trat for easy loading/unloading. They also have strap slots on each lid edge to keep straps from slipping; a welcome feature this weekend on tray Mtn. Ga.

I wanted the Rubbermaid Action Packer but none of the stores had any in stock. I didn't want to order online and wait. I just picked up this box from Walmart for a fraction of the price of the Action Packer. It's pretty sturdy and gets the job done. I wanted it for my recovery gear/tools. It was also important to me that it fit beneath the cargo cover as well as easily removable due to my job. I had also posted these in the "What did you do to/in your 5th gen?" thread.

I made my own storage drawers and definitely did not cost me $1500. Still holding up after three years.
