What's it worth? 2008 4R

I'm seeing some sale prices on 4th gen 4Runners that are making me consider selling mine, if I can get enough for it.

What's this worth? I listed everything I could think of.

2008 4Runner SR5
V6
5-speed automatic transmission
4WD (switchable 2WD/ fulltime 4WD/ part-time 4WD/ high & low range)
Silver exterior, black/gray interior (cloth)

Misc comments:
Approx. 52K miles. One owner, Nevada vehicle, clean title (title in hand), non-smoker.
Excellent condition. No dents, no rust, only a few small rock chips.
All records since new. Synthetic oils in engine, transfer case, and differentials. Iridium NGK plugs. Fumoto quick oil-drain valve installed.

Note: 2008 has factory VSC-off switch and standard side + curtain airbags

Factory options
Leather wrapped steering wheel & gear shift knob
Steering wheel mounted controls for stereo
Cargo area retractable cover
Sunroof
Rear spoiler
Roof rack w/ crossbars (crossbars currently removed)
17” 5-spoke aluminum wheels
Tow package (7-way harness at rear, and tow hitch, which was replaced by the hitch as part of the aftermarket rear bumper)
Daytime running lights

Aftermarket stuff
Interior:
-Husky liner floor mats: front, rear, and cargo area
-Marathon “superhide” cordura seat covers (solid gray color): front and rear, including headrests and armrests
-Husky liners and seat covers were installed when the 4R was brand new. Everything underneath is perfect.
-Pioneer AVIC-X920BT touchscreen navigation/DVD/MP3/Bluetooth etc. head unit. Full ipod control, microSD slot, Bluetooth mic is mounted at top of driver’s A pillar. Bypassed the “parking brake must be on” setting, so navigation can be entered while vehicle is in motion. Steering wheels controls work – PAC SWI-PS kit installed to run aftermarket stereo.

Exterior:
-Relentless Fabrication aluminum front and rear bumpers, powdercoated black. Shackle tabs on both. 2” receiver on rear.
-Engo E9000 winch mounted in front bumper, with synthetic line. Aluminum hawse fairlead.
-LED offroad lights mounted in front bumper, controlled via factory fog light switch. Factory fog light bypass done (can run the LED lights independent of headlights, but still requires ignition keyed on).
- PIAA 510 “super white” driving lights mounted on top of front bumper, wired to accessory fuse box using PIAA harness with relay. Wired to Daystar switch mounted in dash blank to left of steering wheel.
-Xenon Depot 4300K HID headlight conversion in factory projector headlamps (low beam only).
-DieHard Platinum PM-1 (Odyssey) size 31M in stock location. Massive battery.
-Blue Sea fuse box under hood for accessories
-Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor P255/75/17 tires (five) on factory 5-spoke wheels, good tread, even wear. Spare has been rotated in as part of usage. Spare fits in factory position under rear of vehicle.
-Bilstein 5100 shock absorbers: leveling shocks for front end set at 1.75” position with factory coils). Rear is on Moog coils for FJ Cruiser. Rides well.
-I brushed on POR-15 over the beginning superficial rust on the frame, about 2-3 years ago. The factory frame paint just isn’t very good. The POR-15 is holding up well.

What it doesn’t have
It’s a SR5, not Sport model – no XREAS suspension
No third row seats
No double decker cargo tray thing
No JBL system – factory 6-speaker audio. Sounds much better with the Pioneer head unit than it did with the factory stereo.

You do realize that you're not going to be able to buy a nice condition 4Runner at the prices listed there, right? And they don't factor in any aftermarket parts.

Used Toyotas seem to get high prices. I'm wondering how high - if it's enough, I'll sell mine.

IF IT HAS THE BILSTEINS SET UP YOU DONT NEED THE XREAS. I had the xreas on my 07 sport and got rid of it last month and am super happy with virtually no ride quality drop in fact feels better. get the matching rear bilsteins and you are good.

You may be better off putting it back to stock and selling the bumpers separately. Mods like this generally do not add value unless you find someone looking for the particular mods. 90% of the market just wants stock vehicles.

You're absolutely right, but I don't have the stock bumpers any more. So I'll either try selling as it is, or just keep it.

Back OT. As someone who recently looked at the market from 03-09, I would definitely say low to mid 20s depending on buyer.

A 4R is not an exotic collector's car. It is worth what KBB says it is regardless of mods. Actually, its probably worth a bit less than if it were in stock condition. Good luck with the sale, but dont expect miracles.

A 4R is not an exotic collector's car. It is worth what KBB says it is regardless of mods. Actually, its probably worth a bit less than if it were in stock condition. Good luck with the sale, but dont expect miracles.

No one in their right mind is going to pay more than nada/kbb for a used car, even if we're more emotionally attached to it than we should be... Whatever money we put into aftermarket mods is lost money in resale unless one can find that person looking for your exact build and is willing to pay you top dollar for it, #Unlikely, which is why people who think their 4Runner is made of gold, price it accordingly and aren't willing to negotiate, end up on the market for a while... hell, if someone is willing to pay more than kbb/nada, I have two exceptionally well maintained 4Runners in our driveway that I will happily part with, no emotional attachment here, it's just a stupid suv.

Agreed. My 4Runner is on pavement 99.9 % of the time. I love the stock look, only mod I've made is spidertraxx, simply because I like the wide stance look it gives.

Stupid SUV? That hurts my feel buds...:frisky: Must be all that time you spent in the reactor control room! But the truth is the resale is driven by year, mileage and condition.

Stock in Canada around that mileage is about 20K Cdn. That is about the national average from AutoTrader.ca.
