What's my problem?

So I have been searching and looking at pics for a while now, and I am not entirely sure what I need to replace.

I was changing my wheels and noticed this:

Sorry, I know the pics aren't great.

To my question, do I need to replace my LBJ or part of the tie rod? How bad is it that I am driving it like this? I've got some longer trips coming up, so I want to get this squared away.

Well you guys have confirmed my fears, thanks. This is why I try to give the vehicle a once over every few weeks- glad I caught it now.

Was planning on doing it myself but since it needs to get done ASAP guess I'll have to pony up. Everywhere around me wants at least $250 per side and is quoting at least 2 hours labor.

2 hrs a side is a little steep.

Remove wheel, remove tie rod end, unbolt LBJ and separate LBJ with a little puller. Re assemble. If you have air tools, go rent a pickle fork that attaches to an air hammer @ discount auto(that thing will have the joint out in about 5 seconds). BE CAREFUL with beater forks, they tend to hurt more than they help in the wrong hands. The best option is a puller if you can find it.

Although it may not appear easy, this is a definite do it your selfer, I would tackle it on a week night after work with full intentions of driving it to work the next morning. Buy thread lock for the 4 bolts on the ball joint.

Yeah, I had never done it before and knocked it out without a problem. If you're not replacing your tie-rod ends, just be really careful not to damage the threads trying to beat it out.

I just ordered LBJ's from toyota of Dallas for $199 for both sides which includes the $40 in shipping cost to Canada...

They come with the Castle nuts BTW so you dont have to order them.

the correct part numbers for my Canadian 1998 sr5 v6 are

Right 4333 039 585
Left 4334 039 465

My question are

1. what are the torque specs needed to put those 4 bolts back in?

2. Which tie rods need to be replaced when doing this.. inner outer?

3. Any body in Canada available to help do the switch?

Check Napa, they have the Napa chassis line LBJ's for the same price as the OEM's (There is a Napa in Natick, and one down the street from me). You should be able to get those very quickly. Let me know if you plan on doing them and I might be able to help you. I will be doing mine soon too, so I wouldn't mind the practice on yours.

Could possibly do it this weekend if you can.
