What's next for supercharged T4R? Borla exhaust? URD Fueling?

Although it didn't start as a "build" project, my 2000 4Runner SR5 has kinda turned into one. :rockon:

I picked up a 2nd gen TRD supercharger last summer and installed it when I found time in late September. Love it! I don't have a heavy foot around town, but it sure is nice to have some jump when I want it. Where I really noticed the improvement was in mountain driving. Fully loaded, roof rack loaded with bags and trailer hitch basket full of coolers of food and drink, my truck would effortlessly maintain 70 mph up Kenosha Pass. Unbelievable.

Anyway, I've finished paying for the s/c, and now I'm pondering my next project.

So, I've been thinking about picking up the Borla 14659 cat-back exhaust. I like the idea of having my truck sound a little better, but if there's zero performance benefit, it's not worth it to me.

Does adding the Borla exhaust (without addressing headers or high-flow cat) improve performance at all?

Alternatively, I could pick up URD's 7th injector kit. My truck has no pinging or knocking (altitude helps, I think), but I suspect the URD kit would give more performance improvement than the cat-back exhaust. Opinions?

Unless you do everything from headers to exhaust, I wouldn't bother. Don't mess with the beauty of a quiet truck unless it's totally worth it.

I would look into transmission upgrades.

I've heard a Borla in person, and I thought it was loud as piss. Plus it isn't a side exit tip - a huge deal breaker in a 4Runner IMO if you like to roll with the rear window down when the weather is nice.

I have a JBA exhaust and it sounds similar. I consider it to be the worst modification I have done.

Exhausts are totally subjective, but I'll give you my baseline which is that anything louder than stock is excessively loud. My reasoning? I have a few other cars, and none are quite as loud from the factory as a stock 4Runner is.

But go with what you like.
