whats next?

Ok so my boyfriend has changed the clutch, the master cylinder and slave cylinder in my 1990 toyota 4runner, it engages into gear when not running but when turned on it will not engage, we have got all the air out of the lines and spent a lot of time pumping the cclutch but just will not engage. Does anybody heva any suggestions?

maybe the pilot bearing

If the pilot bearing is bad the input shaft on the transmission could be turning with the flywheel when the engine is running, which is keeping it from going into gear. But when you shut it off obviously the flywheel is not turning, so you are then able to get it into gear.
