Whats the average amount of time or miles you keep your vehicles ?

Well let's see...I made soem mistakes and bought cars because I wanted them instead of needing them so I got burned on that.
My 1998 GMC Sierra started having major engine problems at 64,000.
My 2001 Chevy Impala F R I E D at 61,000.
We have a 2005 Subaru Outback Wagon that is a phenominal little hot rod, paid off in 3 1/2 years and we'll probably drive it until it dies - little thing gets 30+ highway and about 22 +/- city with a 4 cylinder AWD. Why can't the big 3 do this?
The '07 T4R has 11,400 miles on it, will be paid off in August and I'll probably keep that until it makes no more financial sense to so - which ought be in about 10-15 years.
I have learned from my mistakes of buying out of wanting, and if it is paid for I can buy other toys and save coin.

I would like to do that to , depending on what the look like and how they set them up . Hopefully with the Highlander , Sequoia being set up more for street use , they will keep the 4R an off road capable machine. Or if they come out with a 4dr FJ that might be a consideration too.

I will likely keep my SE and drive that bad boy into the ground. It's my dream vehicle since high school and I'll be damned if I have to let go of it. They would have to pry my dead hands off the hoodscoop first before taking it away from me. Both runners have proven their weight in gold and are worth keeping in the family. I kept my '91 Acura Integra for 16 years until I sold it to my friend, and it still runs well (not great though). Perhaps I will sell the SR5 after it's paid off but it obviously won't be worth much. It's way cheaper for me to keep. Depends if my wife still wants to keep it for herself or wants something new. Besides, I have better things to spend my money on than eternal new car payments. Ok, well gas is an unfortunate exception, but it's just money. Just go out and make more. We all die at some point so might as well enjoy life while that clock ticks.

You and I are probably among the few that in our teens we wanted a 4Runner. My friend was always saying don't know why you don't want a sportscar. I didn't mind a MR-2 turbo or Supra, but I'm a practical kind of a person and I rather have a sport sedan over a coupe.

) these trucks are beautiful masterpieces from toyota, and I think that 4th gen owners need to relish in what they have BECAUSE THE 5TH GEN WILL BE LESSENED(atleast ill bet 1$) especially in a TRUE 4runner ROOTS/offroad aspect.I plan on keeping my truck well beyond 200K ..... and then maybe some SAS action.

Did you know that colors are options on vehicles? Pop up campers come in colors other than white too! Check it out sometime.

I used to keep 3 years/ 36,000 miles. Since I got married I'll probably buy the 4R for my wife (she doesn't drive much). I'm looking at the Audi A4 as a second car when we get to that point. We both work in NYC and take mass transit to work (hence one car), we're moving to MN next year to be closer to her family 
for me.
With kids in the future (hopefully) we figured it would be better to have something bigger and safer, even if it cost a bit more to fill up (we counter the rising fuel cost by not eating out as often). I'm also planning on buy a 4 wheeler and a dirtbike when we get to MN so I'll have a need for a vehicle which can tow.

Countless? I never said dingo AND I are the only two. A product specific forum isn't a good indication of the general public. Teens that desire a SUV are a small minority. When I drive by my HS and the others in my area and of all the vehicles that lined the street where there normally aren't any, SUVs were far and few.

My wife's CRV (purchase new in January 1998 with 4 miles) now has over 196,000 miles. My original intent was ten years on it, but it still runs, drives, and looks like new.
My go to work vehicle is a 1987 VW Golf with over 250,000 miles. It just keeps going and going.... I hate getting rid of vehicles that still run.

This is a 4Runner forum, what else would a member want. That's like saying there countless people who want a Lexus on a Lexus forum. Of the 20k+ members we have here, I doubt 1% of them are teens, far cry from countless. And since we're at it, I define a teen as someone who's 13-19.
Besides, if my post is "off-topic" why further continue to take it off track? If you want to debate this issue further, take it up over PM.
