Whats the average amount of time or miles you keep your vehicles ?

well, my kids drive my old 1995 Honda Accord. It has 310k miles. I'm hoping my 2008 4Runner will last as long. not sure if I'll be able to afford gas in a few years though.

I loved my 350hp '93 Eclipse GSX but it just became less practical as my life changed a bit plus it was a bit of a money pit since I drag raced it at about 14 events a season for 8 years and it was a blast and I learned alot about turbo engines and AWD but w/o it and switching to a 4Runner my bank account is much healthier and I love 4wheelin' as a new hobby.

(I also don't get speeding tix in my 4Runner)

Usually no longer than 2 years. But my 4Runner and Porsche are keepers. Audi will be going in on trade soon for a new S4 Avant.

shat, my mistake! i have never heard of the porsche cayman till just now.
I have been out of the car scene for a while now besides MB's...... that is a very nice looking car. Turbo yes?

My wife and I have been on the ten year plan.

I buy a car with a 5 year loan and when it's paid off she then does the same. When hers is paid off I buy another car with a 5 year loan.

As of this year we are each working 2 miles from home and driving less than 4,000 miles a year per car. Plus I ride my bike to work a several days a week which decreases the mileage on the 4 Runner even more. As a result, we may modify the routine to include a couple of payment free years between new cars.

We bought our Camry in '98 - it was a '97 with 16K miles at the time. We're still driving it and with 160K on it now...we've thrown a few nickels and dimes at it in the last year. Original alternator went out, battery, front axles and a heater core. But it still runs great and will drive it till it dies.

I intend to do the same with the 4Runner unless I get put in a serious commuting situation (right now its only 5 miles to work each way) or gas gets totally out of hand.

My wife and I used to lease vehicles, so we would get a new one every 3 years.

However, since we bought the GX470 and the T4R, we plan on keeping them both "for the long hail". My son will get the T4R when he gets licensed in 3 years.

I keep them until they die or suck me dry every month. I don't like taking baths selling cars early. I may add a commuter car soon (save money and pay cash), but right now my commute to work is a measly 10 miles so I'm good for the time being.
This town has crappy public transportation, I wish I could take a train or bus to work. The bus would take over an hour, but I guess I could do that if I wasn't so used to the freedom a car gives a person.

About 10 years or 100k. The last one, 15 years with 121k before it was given away. The 4Runner I'll probably drive it until the wheels fall off.

I used to get something new every 2-3 years because company paid for it. I would like to keep the 4R because I like it a lot , but man some of you guys and gals have it good , after 5 years I'll have over 100k on my 06. It will be worthless

Had a few vehicles before my 4Runner, but my most recent Ford Exploder lasted til 140K then we sold it because I had enough to pay for my 4Runner in full. Hopefully my Runner lasts for many years, but I am considering buying a 5th gen after they get the bugs out in a few years, hoping they don't mess it up like the Highlanders/Sequoias of course.

If you maintain it well, 100K on a 4Runner is just well-broken in. Have 200K on my 90 and still runs great. No major problems, just the usual over the years, starter, alternator, water pump, etc.

Lot cheaper to fix things like that than buy a new one, not that I wouldn't mind a new 4Runner, if they made then with a manual trans, that is.
