Sears no longer stocks the platinum AGM batteries. The platinum AGM batteries are actually the same as Odyssey batteries made by Enersys.
Well that sucks. Guess Odyssey is a good place to start looking now. Since they are the same battery from one manufacturer, I am assuming the Odyssey 31M is the same as the Diehard Platinum 31M that so many people use. As in same dimensions and stuff?
Same in every single way except the colors of the casing, and of course the Odyssey name brand mark-up. A couple years back, identical DH Platinum AGM's could be had for about 2/3's the retail of the same battery branded as Odyssey. Seems to be not so much the case anymore?
Good to know. I really wanted one of those 31M Diehards, but now I guess I'll go with the Odyssey. Really like the idea of having the dedicated posts and the two accessory posts. Might stop by my local sears to see if they have any left in stock though.

Good luck. Be aware its an extremely heavy battery and it is a tight fit, if you find one. I had to readjust my front coilvers a bit after putting in this battery and a winch.
Damn, my fronts aren't adjustable. Guess I might just go with a slightly smaller battery as opposed to the 31M. Maybe the 34R then.
I believe I saw in another thread that the stock battery is 60, and the 31m is 75. so we're talking 15 pounds.
I was looking at Optima Blue Top. Spec sheet from Optima for the Blue Top - http://d26maze4pb6to3.cloudfront.net/optimabatteries/9513/4583/5023/BLUETOP_Full_Specs_Sheet.pdf
Blue Top is the marine AGM battery, has the dual posts. D34M or D27M are dual purpose, starting and deep cycle. Both fit in the OEM plastic battery tray. I like the marine screwdown connections.
I went with Toyota Truestart 00544-27F60-710
710 CCA / 165 RC
84 month warranty
Same specs as Interstate MTP-27F, I believe.
Cheaper than Optima from the Dealer. It was about $110 w/coupon.
But will I get 8 years out of it?
Hmmm interesting. So after doing more research it seems the 31M would probably be overkill for me, both size and weight wise, but I really like the thought of having a bigger battery in general, especially one with additional posts for accessories. The Odyssey 34M AGM l found looks to be a winner. I don't know much about batteries, so what do you think?
Edit: Crap nevermind. I realized the posts are backwards for us and I would have to redo the wires...Damn
