Hi all,
I have a 2003 4Runner with almost 70k miles on the clock. I've had no problems with it whatsoever. I bought it about 3 years ago from someone in NY. The truck has it's alarm set so it honks over pretty much everything. To even open the doors (when you're not in it) you have to unlock it w/the key fob, it'll chirp and honk twice. It auto-locks if you don't do anything for a few seconds, by honking once and chirping. It does the same thing for when you lock it.
Yesterday I accidentally bumped someone in traffic with the front of the truck. It did no damage to my or their vehicles, it was a very, very light bump. Everything seemed to be working okay after that. I don't remember if it did the auto lock when I parked it a few minutes later at work.
Today I go to the truck to leave and unlock the doors w/the fob as always; but I notice it does not honk, only chirps. I checked if my doors were open or anything else that would typically cause it to only chirp. Everything was in it's place. The truck still auto-locks and does everything it did, minus the honking.
I've never had anything like this occur whatsoever with my 4Runner so I'm wondering what happened, is it because of me bumping someone? How do I fix it?
