What's your RPM's?

Hey guys just curious about trying to figure some stuff out with my runner. Some stuff seems a little wack. So when im running down the highway at around 60mph (give or take a few) my RPM's are at 3000 in 5th gear. Now that seems high to me, but for a vehicle set to run in the forest roads of japan and not the highways of americca i suppose it's not to bad. I was just curious if my gearing has been messed with. Stock gears were 4.56's and it has 30x9.50x15 on it right now. (stock WAS 31's but someone downsized i guess.)

my 85 sr5 4runner 22re, with 5speed , 410 stock gearing with 225/75/75 also a stock tire size is almost 70 mph like 69.7 in 5th gear at 3000 rpm, with the factory tach

i guess i should clarify that im looking for someone with the same stock setup as me for the numbers.
I run a 1994 3.0L v6 5-spd manual with 4.56's
Thank you for the reply though buddy :D

I think I run the same, I.gotta flip my needle back over the pin holder cause it dropped when my ground wire broke, but the engine sounds at about 3k. I run a 3.slo 5spd in my 92 as well. But I can try to verify later when I fix it. Lol, I shift by feel/sound, perfectly.

I have pretty much the same setup as you. 94, 5speed, 3.0 31 ATs. When Im at 60mph, my rpms are at about 2600. I try to drive at 60 or less to keep my rpms down when Im cruising and rarely rev it above 3000 unless I really need to

So you are looking for me. Cruising at 60 on straight highway in 5th I don't think I am quite at 3000 I'll run a test on the highway when I go to work today.

well im trying to figure out if one inch in tire size would alot for 400 extra rpms ( i dont know all the math for it/im to lazy to do it haha ) so my dad and i are trying to figure out if someone in the past did stuff to it for gearing and such. I'm planning an OME lift and back to 31's maybe 32's but not sure yet. I was just curious if someone had my setup with 30's and could give me their numbers or know if someone else along my driveline has been tampered with. Thanks for all your replies and help as always.

Before my mods, I had a set of 235/75/15 with 4:10 gears. I ran 3000 rpm and i was at 70 mph. I also have a 3.0 5spd. If that would give you any idea. Now i am rolling on 33 12.50 15s same gears and doing 70 at 2700 rpm, at least thats what the radar on the side of the road says as i pass it everyday to and from work.

I checked my RPMs today and was at 2500 @ 60 mph, 2800 @ 65 mph. I'm in an Automatic 3.0 on 31" tires. Gearing is whatever is original in the truck.

I entered in your info into this spot.

Gear Ratio Calculator

Even when I switched it to 4.88's and 30" tires, it was still going 65mph at 3000rpms. I know this doesn't help you, but I am on 4.30's and 32's and I am about 2600 rpms at 65mph.

Math formulas aside, in a 91 T4R with 3.0, 4.56 gears and 31" tires I ran about 2600 RPM at 60mph, about 3100 at 70mph and 3300 at 75.
